How does your game fit the theme?
You play as a tower of balls and must sacrifice the bottom one to jump, thus you are counting down the amount of balls you have left.

this was so cool and i enjoyed it very much i managed to get the cake at the end yaay i had some expectations where i can collect other balls to build up a tower of balls and 2+ jumps but i understand it was made in 4 days duhhh great job tho the mechanics art and audio was amazing! overall it was so nice
Really loved the game, was one of my favourits this jam! The theme was implemented in a very creative way and i loved the three little slime guys.
I think you did an especially good job with the puzzle design! Having a great idea is one thing, but making good levels another! They were not that hard of course, but entertaining and most screens had a new idea i think.
I hope you keep working on the game! there are pretty easy ways to think of expansions for the mechanics, first and foremost having more slime guys!
I think the ending was pretty funny with that hollow-knight titlescreen :D
Very well done!
Ty Ty ^^
Ye I tried to generally introduce a new concept in each one and if I build upon it do so after ^^
I might, I haven't yet but I might keep working on it at some point cuz it was fun to make :3
hell yeahhh you know exactly where I got my title card inspiration from lol, I actually booted up hollow knight to get a visual reference for how big the title should be lol xP
Happy u enjoyed the game!!
I think this is really cute!! I saw on your game page that you named each of the balls, so I think it would be nice to have a game title page and a lil something that introduces them. Solid game mechanics too!
Tyy ^u^
I did write a little introduction for each of 'em but I didn't put them in the actual game anywhere:
🔴 Roj:
Always enjoying life, oblivious to what's around them
🟡 Ama:
Kinda concerned about wtf is happening
🟢 Ver:
**They've been screening in horror non-stop for 28 years, their voice has long since given out by this point**
Happy ya enjoyed the game ^u^
This game is really sweet, haha! I saw you posted on my game comments that yours was similar, and yeah it's pretty crazy how we had such similar ideas. In terms of your game, I really liked how you started adding switches, blocks and other funny events like the flag falling from the sky. It really gave the game character which I loved. And there were so many levels, which was awesome!
Two critiques: I wished sometimes that I could've just clicked R to restart the level, instead of having to deplete my stack. I also got tripped up a few times when I accidentally jumped and lost part of my stack during a transition (and at the end too), I would have just been nice if movement was disabled during those transitions/end cutscene.
Overall, great work, and also very impressive considering you're a solo dev too, wow!!
Glad ya liked it, yours was adorable too :3
Yeah when I came with my idea I didn't quite know why it popped in my mind and I definitely didn't expect someone else to do smth so similar lol
Yee I added more puzzle mechanics cuz I was finding the default mechanic by itself kinda hard to work with 😅 the crates gave a reason not to jump, and the levers have a reason *to* jump other than just going places
Ahh I considered adding R as an instakill button but I figured just jumping till you died was intuitive enough, didn't consider the impracticality of it
Whaa I thought I made it so you couldn't die after triggering a flag, were you playing build 4? A toggleable boolean to make it so the player can't jump would be smart though
And ty! ^^ Are most ppl not a solo dev here tho? I got a lot of group submissions for games on steam but I figured it was just cuz groups were more likely to go to strangers or something
P.S. the birds (barry?) little silly hops when they don't have a box is peak lol, just felt like mentioning that :p
yeah, I was just commending you for bein a solo dev bc you added so much content, all by yourself. Also, glad you liked barry's jump haha, in the initial prototype he actually had no jump at all, but I quickly found that players found it super frustrating to hit space and have nothing happen when they weren't connected to any blocks.
I mean now that you mention it I suppose I did..18 levels and 4 secret rooms I suppose is a bit.. idk I'm just happy I finally managed to finish out my scope for a jam lol, last jam I was in I didn't even really get what I wanted to get done for my vertical slice lol😅
lol I can see that being frustrating, well the solution was very fun and gave some nice character, second thing I noticed about the game other than the super adorable birb and cute art style :3 (and the slight screenshake is just a cherry on top lol)
Tyyyyy yeah I think it was a game from the bad ideas game jam that made me realize that it's nice when you intuitively noticed how to solve each puzzle ^^ (out-of-bounds maybe? Idk if that was the one but I like it either way) so I def tried to keep the flow of every level teaching u smth new :3
If you're looking for a great puzzle game from this jam I'd recommend 5 steps left (https://zacharybarbanell.itch.io/five-steps-left) it's a head scratcher that I personally found quite enjoyable :D
Happy to see it seems you really enjoyed mine! ^u^
Yooo the boss jump scared me lol. Very neat game, one of my favorite entries so far!
Very, Very nice job. The puzzles were done well and I would love to see this expanded upon if you're interested.
