*I Start assembling a rocket, using tack welding, and hastily launch*
*I realises that I accidentally put the thruster to the side, instead of below*
*Spins around in circles, hitting everything that is possible to hit, and somehow collect an extra thruster & fuel tank*
*Blows up*
*Ignores the dizzyness, builds a second ship, a bit more stable this time, and launches*
*Fiddles with controls, and still spins around anyway*
*Dies multiple times*
*Eventually recovers the weapon, before dying again by crashing into an alien*
*Launches with the weapon*
*Has terrible aim, dies a few more times*
*Finally manages to break the shell, almost out of fuel*
*Wins the game, now stranded in space*
10/10, would ram the UFO's again.
LOVED IT :D
A really great game! The implementation of the theme is genius and the setting for the game is really creative! The ship building part is a really hectic process which has you scrambling around to try fit the parts you have in the best places you can think of while on a short timer, leading to chaotic movement in the flying part of the game. I managed to beat it after around 10 tries. Splendid submission!
Yo! That's a pretty unexpected gameplay I got from this! XD
It's pretty cool how the game let's you build your own ship, inevitably with flaws due the short amount of time you have. Which leads to pretty unusual movement required from the player. Pretty cool you also have to build your own keybinds. It reminded me a lot of the tabletop game Galaxy Trucker, where you also build your ship with limited time.
Also the alswas open possibility to finish the game when you're ready is unique, so you don't have to wait extra launches when you already have a good ship.
Here's the VOD (game at 2:01:30)
So peak, after all these years we finally got bad piggies space. Really really fun as is and could easily be expanded upon. But if i had to pick one, the audio is unfortunately the games weakest point. Still, peak gmtk
Loved the game! I've been playing Outer Wilds lately, and piloting this ship gave me the exact same feeling. DOWN WITH THE GLORPOS!
FLACOMINER!!!
I played this on my stream and might have been the highlight of it! Thanks for making this game!
I watched you and it was awesome!! Thank you so much for playing, it means so much that you enjoyed. I was cheering you on the whole time :D
Loved this! Gave me a lot of Kerbal Space Program vibes!
Such a unique mechanic! I wanted to try and win before I left a rating but I am notoriously bad at games so that would take a while, so here I am! I am an absolute sucker for aliens and dialogue systems so having an alien cat explain the rules through dialogue instantly hooked me! Absolutely ADORE the art as well! Bravo!
Thanks so much! That part was all me hehe so I'm glad u liked it
The artstyle and game mechanics, love it so much! I can see myself playing this for a while, it's such a fun idea with the constant upgrading of the ship
Awesome job
Great game! I love space ship and space and ship1!!
Right click didn't work for me on Linux/Firefox, so I was kinda playing on hard mode the whole time. Still had fun though! Love myself a good physics-based space building simulator. Still not a Furry. :3
this game is cute, i like the style and the buttons on the thrusters help you understand quickly how to move the ship but something is a bit weird for me with the pacing, im not sure if i like how the game slows so much when entering space, i feel like the space parts should be a bit faster somehow idk
anyway good job
HELPPPP i keep getting fuels!
EXCELLENT game. really reminds me of games like bad piggies, and also, old flash games from Cartoon Network. really polished artstyle and sounds, too. I loved it! sadly i couldnt post images of my build tho!
aaaa thank you so much! I wish I couldve seen the build. Bad piggies was a huge inspiration, esp for art, I LOVE that game.
Also, yea we actually only planned to have three fuel pickups but after play testing we realized it was too punishing. so then we added like a million so people could have more room to mess around lol
I totally loved it, such a cute idea with a perfect execution. The urgency of the ship building, the helplessness I felt at the very start, and the more pieces you collect, the more you can do! I even managed to escape! Very fun; it deserves all the love and attention!
Cool idea! An enjoyable game loop, I think the time limit makes the game more chaotic = more fun, would be cool to see the ideas expanded on, good job :)
So much fun, love the idea and very funny to watch my ship flying into space because of my own mistakes
Very original idea! One of the few games that I would like to see how it develops!
Love this! Really charming game. Played through 6 launches and had a great time making my ship. The color-coding of the thrusters with key symbols was really intuitive, I knew how to play the game even though I didn't read any instructions out of impatience lol.
Small pieces of feedback:
1. Fuel was really disproportionately common compared to all other tile types for me on this run. Having only an A and a D thruster meant I had to crab-walk around space as I could only have 2 directions of thrust, never 3. Probably just unlucky RNG though.
2. I'd love to be able to damage the glorpos with my thrusters in a pinch, if I haven't found a blaster. I got the fire sprite to overlap them a few times by accident and realized it'd have made me very delighted if that incinerated them.
Thanks so much for the feedback!
We actually only planned for the first(and only) ring to only have three fuel pickups, but then after play testing we realized that was too punishing for a game jam, especially since you didn't have much room to mess around with designs. So then we added like a bunch everywhere lol.
Also, one control we failed to mention in the game itself is that could can rotate thrusters before you place them with right click! Not sure if you knew.
That thruster damage thing is actually SUCH a good idea, honestly it wouldn't have been too bad to implement either I wish we thought of it!
