I love this idea. My team and I considered it in the early phase.  I am glad someone made it, because it really a neat idea and perfect for the game jam spirit! Thanks for the Devlog too, it has been a blast to read through and think about.

Served my time, put my clicks in

This game is peak! Such a creative idea, love it! 😂
Looks like you'll get that countdown down to 0 soon enough =)))

Very smart to have a cooldown timer too. Prevents cheating :P

Great idea! Well done.

super cool project

Finally hit 1 million. GUI breaks weirdly after many hours ( I ran it for more than 24 hours, I think after 8-10 the cooldown GUI stopped working, definitely still cools down. ). I've refreshed the window and it's fine again. Also, the music sounds like there's slight popping. I get the same sound with my engine if I don't keep the audio buffer full. It's sort of a crackle. I also had almost an extra hundred thousand clicks that weren't showing up in my actual score, I assume from lag & what not. Weirdly, when I was on cool down my not real score would count down. Also, the score would jump up fairly high during the doubles bonus. I assume it's client side doubling the uncommitted clicks & adding them to the known server score? Also, the bonus shortened from 30 seconds to 20. I assume that was deliberate. That was mildly frustrating, but also totally fair. I'm still at over a million clicks lol. Super curious what triggers that? Is it being above a certain click threshold, or is there some autoclicker detection? Also, respect for the finger break.

I'm probably done unless I see someone else above 500'000. Gotta keep the title.

I wondered if someone using an auto clicker would show up! I've been keeping an eye on yours, I've got you in a moderation view 😂 you won't see anyone else that high because your score is not that high! You're not on the leaderboard 😉 your score was caught at around 290k and you were knocked down to 50k and stopped contributing to both the main countdown and the leaderboard! Everything appears to continue to work to stop people figuring out they were banned and changing their behaviour lol, it has been very effective.

Thank you for the stress test 🙏 I suspect a lot of the issues you faced (except the audio and gui) were actually because you were banned. You'll be forever immortalised in the ban list ♥️  I can't change the end stats to include you now unfortunately, but I would if I could!

Ah, that's lame. Why not say auto clicking was banned? I would have respected that if it was stated as a rule. Also, my first few thousand clicks were legit, but I used the clicker well before 50k (I did watch it & play with it for longer than I want to admit, so maybe it wasn't as consistent as leaving it overnight). I did think about whether or not you had autoclick detection. I'm sure there's a way to add irregularity to make it harder to detect, but I don't think that's a fun program to write just for a jam game. Maybe that's just a never ending arms race as well. Anyway, I am curious what the GUI issue was if/when you figure it out. I assume it's something related to having the window open for over 24 hours.

Developer

If I had outright said it was banned, and told people when they were banned, they would attempt to get around it! By doing it this way, people assumed I wouldn't have any autoclick detection so only did it the naive way. I'm confident that the top 5 scores were all human clicks, which means the whole thing worked as intended!

I'll run some tests on the GUI issues, yeah, I'm really curious too 😂

Would you be willing to release your clicking dataset? (I assume individual clicks are stored in a database, but idk) I'd be super curious to see who else was caught autoclicking/how high they got. I used to study signal processing in college, and it'd be fun to analyze all the patterns in a dataset that large. There's probably weird patterns & maybe ways to detect uncaught auto clicking. ( I guess I'm assuming you stored every click as some sort of database entry )

I can do! Give me a couple of days :)

As others said, this feels like a community project. It has great virality. The visuals are well done, music is chill. However, clicking just to make number go down doesn’t really feel like gameplay.
