How does your game fit the theme?
The player has to save the world (meaning go through the entire platform-game area and find a secret key to open a secret location and save the world). There is also a count-down when the player is falling - you need to fall sometimes to go further in the game, but if you're not careful the countdown kills you too.

Cool game! Managed to reach Area 11 but wasnt really sure where to go from there. The text sadly skipped itself so I couldnt always read what it said because it was very very fast. The movement felt a bit clunky at times and there were some blind jumps where I had to guess where I should land. However that didnt stop the game from being fun. Always love a good jump and run and the setting is very funny. Nice!
Feel free to check out our game if you got time :)
Hi, thanks ! I'm on my phone right know but I'll have a look on the evening (it's noon here).
I made a new version of the game taking into account everyone's comments and solving bugs, I'll uploaded it when the jam ends. If you liked the game come back, you'll get a better version (with dialogues you can read, a path clearly indicated and a level completely rebuilt and reorganized).
(I can also write to you what you should do from area 11 when I'm on the computer if you want)Awsome! I think I'll check out the new version once the jam ended. Then I'll hopefully be able to figure out myself what to do from area 11 ;)
This is pretty interesting, but the dialogue was too fast and I coudn't read :(
A great challenge if you want a little break from something!
Thank you :D Duly noted for the dialogue, I think you're the second or third person to tell me that. In the next version the screen filter is removed from the dialogue scenes to make them more readable. And if you want another similar challenge, the level is entirely rebuilt for the future deployment after the jam ends !
Pretty interesting platformer with a polished look. I just wish the film grain wasn't so abundant so the game can have a clearer look and makes it much easier to look where to go. Still a good time, kudos to the devs :)
Hi, thanks a lot !
A bunch of people told me about the grain end bugs (I had solved but uploaded the wrong version T_T) and other things that could be improved. I will work on it tomorrow and release an improved version when the jam is over, so if you have more advice you want to share or want to come back try the new version after the jam ends I'll be happy to get your feedback again !
Also, I'm a learning solo dev so feedback helps a lot and motivates me. So your compliment makes me very happy and motivated to do more :D
Fun game but lacking direction and filled with bugs, really like the art and concept tho
Thanks ! And sorry for the bugs, they were solved but I left the wrong version on Itch and didn't notice before it was too late T___T Sad but true lesson to learn: triple-check everything before considering things are done. If you like the game come back after the jam, I made a list of everyone's advice and am re-working the game so you have a non-bugged, funnier version to play in the end. It also helps me make progress so if you have things to change in mind (apart from the bugs, they're solved) feel free to express yourself !
I liked the mechanics you've implemented despite the bugs! I liked how there was dialogue after retrieving upgrades, adding to the immersion of the game. The explosion animation was also done really well!
If you're looking for some tips/feedback and such, here's a few I thought of. I'm not sure if these are things that just didn't make it into the uploaded build, so sorry if they're things you've already addressed:
Overall, you have a lot of cool stuff happening here! I hope to see the updated version once the jam ends!
Wow thanks a million for the detailed list, I really appreciate !
In the full version I wanted to upload the bugs were solved and I added panels to show the way to the player and when they should use the air dash. I lowered the camera zoom a bit too so you can see more platforms (especially the ones you have to let yourself fall on, so you know a bit more where you're going).
I'll take your advice for the coyote time and air-physics, though I'm still new to that so I'm not sure I'll do it right ^^
As for the walls, I used a premade tileset but maybe I could modify their colors in aseprite to make the distinction between walls and floor easier to read ? Do you think that would work ?
Finally, in terms of building the level, thanks a lot for your insight. I've never built a platformer before so I was a bit like "hmmm, let's try this and that". I have no experience at game design or anything so I think I'll try what you said.
If anything else come to your mind please write back, I'll be working on improvements on the game tomorrow !
Yeah for sure! A recolor in aesprite sounds great! You could probably make the background walls darker and the floors brighter to pop out. The other improvements you’ll make sound good too! Good luck!
Thank you ! I was so hyped by your comments that I already did a third of the planned changes but I had other things planned for today and this evening so... I'm just excited about tomorrow. Thanks again, your comments are a perfect example of why I want to do a lot of jams in a row to learn fast during the next few months :D
Loved the game ! But sadly, it's really bugged... Got the nuke exploding way above 0 multiple time, leading to a cursed mode game were the character is invisible, and the all thing freeze after some seconds.
Also, it's very difficult to read everything, maybe you should slow the dialogue a little bit.
Aside from that, I really loved the Art, and the Gameplay. Really good job !
Yeah I'm sorry I fixed these things in the latest version like 2 hours before the jam ended but sadly itch didn't detect this new version I don't know why. I'll put it online once the jam is over if you want to give it a try, I'm sorry T_T
I had also added hints as to how you can get to the end of the level but well, it will be here after the jam ends.
I think I'll also set the screen effect as an option that people can disable. If you want to avoid the explosion bug, press R to respawn when you see you're going to die and you'll be able to play the game 'till the end.
Count on me to play this as soon as the jam ends ! Can't do it now, cause the bug isn't happening on normal and previsible death, it just happens instantly (maybe linked to the dash, but not sure about this), so the R button can't solve it....
I'm so sorry about this - and angry at me for not re-checking I had the right version on time while I still had 2 hours ahead of me. Lesson taught and learnt.
I've made a list of people's advice and I'm planning to work on it to improve things a bit again tomorrow, so if you want to add some advice or things you'd like to see in the game feel free to make a list too ^^ Dialogue things noted, the other bugs don't exist anymore in the version I thought I'd uploaded.
The invisible character thing and freeze was due to the level being instantiated a second time after dialogue closed, without freeing the previous instance. It was easy to solve but yeah, shitty bug sorry again !
cool little game! loved the mechanics and level design
Thanks a lot !
interesting concept, i like the visuals. i will bookmark it, maybe i remenber to play the latest build after the game jam.
Thanks ! I had a better version but for some reason Itch doesn't have it, I think sth may have been wrong with the server and I didn't notice so... I already have a debugged and more guided version but I'll end the jam ends to upload it ^^
Unlocking and mastering all the abilities was very fun. I especially found the rewind time ability super useful once I realized that I could cheat death with it. Platforming is a little janky, but nothing I couldn't handle. Art style was also very cool. The visual noise was overwhelming sometimes, like when the wizard guy was talking (because it was hard to read the text), but looked cool in the rest of the situations.
Hi, thanks ! Yeah I think if you don't know the game by heart you can't finish it without using this ability ^^
Do you have an idea of how I could improve the platforming a bit ? I'm doing several jams in a row to gain experience then I'm planning to improve all the games I made for the jams, so any advice is welcome, whether it's coding, game-design, or whatever that can improve the way I do the games.
I will add a toggle button or a settings menu to enable/disable the screen effect I think, I'm not good enough at writing shaders to make the text more readable and still keep the shader on ^^ I tried to disable the shader for dialogues only but I found it very awkward to change between the two, it felt unnatural.
I think the game got great artwork and audio, but the screen transition is too long (from game menu to in-game, or when you die). Also, the screen effect is too much and the music volue too loud for me :(
Thanks for the feedback :-)
There's a bunch of people that were annoyed by the screen effect and others who liked it so I think I'll add a way to toggle it after the jam is over.
I'm very sensitive to noise too so I get your point on that, I'll lower the music volume in the next version and see if I take the time to add an audio settings feature so you can customize it so it fits your taste.
(I'll play your game too but I have to go to eat and rest, so it will probably be tomorrow sorry !)
I like the visuals and the gameplay is interesting. Cool game!
Thank you ! It's not my final version of it I just realized, so if you want a slightly better version feel free to come back once the jam is over. I'll upload the version I wanted and that wasn't correctly loaded on Itch T_T
Also, I'm going to eat and rest now but I have opened your game in a new tab for my next jam-games session ;-)
My game freezes right when I try to start, no response no matter what I press :/
Ok, strange ? Can I ask what OS/brower you are on ?
Firefox/Win10. I tried reloading a couple times, but it freezes right here, only the music plays and the spiral arrow bobs up and down.
Oh ok, I'll try it on Windows too when i've finished trying the games of people who commented the game. I'm sorry for the problem, I'll try to look into it. I'm coding and playing on Linux so maybe there's something different on how it builds the game. I thought it wasn't an issue when it runs on browser though :'(
Loved the Idea and the concept and the artwork was also nice though I feel the Fuzz that was overlayed was a bit obnoxious. Overall one of my top favourites so far :>
Oh thanks ! I'm very very pleased to read that <3
I thought about making the overlay optional but I was tired so I postponed that. I'll do it once the jam is over and re-add the button to skip dialogues.
the deaths taking a while is annoying, but otherwise i love the idea, great game!
Thanks ! Have you gathered you can respawn by pressing "R" if you know you're gonna die ? Like when you meet a new teleporter or know you're going to fall to death
ps: I wanted to try your game but it triggers a ram memory issue so I think you have a memory leak in your game :'(
yeah i have no idea what i did and why it works normally for me 😭
:'( Have you found other people who can play it ? I also have someone here who can't play mine, for that matter. And I realized this isn't the game version I wanted to publish so there will be a better one after the jam ends ><
