The game feel is amazing : how you handle Fog of War and vision with pixel art, the animation, the enemy's AI, the screen shake when you shoot. Beautiful game.

I managed to get to the end of the 5 min timer, but nothing happened.

Windows build might be a little bugged, as nothing happened when the 5 minute timer ended. No fanfare or victory. And when I tried starting a new game, I had 0 rounds instead of 36. Probably some value initialization errors there. This game could've used some playtesting. Still, it's honestly pretty good. Crisp, clean, and great. The thing is, most of the magic of the game is in the last minute, when you have no bullets left. Before that, the melee enemies simply stand zero chance against your revolver, especially given how slow they spawn. There's significant periods of time where I'm just doing nothing because there's no threat; I'm just waiting to pick off the next enemies that spawn. The game becomes a glorified aiming exercise as a result. Some good ideas here, flesh them out and you could have something great. Congrats on submitting for the jam! I wish you the best.

Thank you for playing and taking the time to comment! I left the ending ambiguous and unexplained and basically it's that you're brother who you're waiting for died on his way back to you so it doesn't matter how long you survive, you die eventually as well, regardless if you made it past the 5 minute countdown or not. But now I realize that it is very confusing at best and unsatisfying and annoying at worst. I'm thinking of adding more context, levels and enemies to expand the game so I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind. And you're right, I didn't playtest the game much so that really hurt the end result. I'll playtest very early on next time.

As for the bug of the ammo count not resetting to 36 after restarting, that's my fault. I forgot to reset the total ammo global variable after restarts. I caught it and fixed it but it was too late, the submission time had passed.

Anyways, thank you again for taking the time to playand comment!

Pretty attractive gameplay and style. I think it would be better to add some twist to the countdown because there are so many game of the same type in the market for example 20 min till dawn. Additionally, add some more levels, enemy and you are so so good to go!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm definitely thinking about expanding the game so I'll keep your comments in mind.

Really fun demo! I think a way to break some of the glass would be a interesting mechanic, to create a new path to escape a swarm of enemies. Keep up the good work!

Developer

Thank you! I will definitely add the glass mechanics along with furniture and and props to the expanded game down the line.

This was super good! The gun sounds were really satisfying and the limited ammo made it feel all the more impactful whenever I decided to use it. At first I thought I could just circle around the map and dodge all the enemies, but their unpredictable movements and dashes quickly made that seem infeasible. You struck a really good balance here and made a really engaging game all the way through. Running out of ammo with 40 or so seconds left was super tense!

I managed to barely squeak out a victory on my first run, but nothing happened when the timer hit zero? I just had to die.

Developer

Thank you so much for taking your rime and playing!

The unexplained story explanation for the ending is that you're brother who you're waiting for died on his way back to you so it doesn't matter how long you survive, you die eventually.

Very cool, and very satisfying to play! If there were multiple levels instead of just infinite spawning, I'd say this would be one of the top games I've played so far! As it is now, it is still very well polished, and probably it was worth your time to focus on that above level design!

Developer

Thank you for playing. I had to prioritize the enemy logic, polish, SFX, and music above level variety.

I actually liked this a lot and wish it had gone a little further! The actual aiming and shooting gameplay was punchy and rewarding and felt really good. With a bit more variety in enemy/strategy and less of a need to conserve ammo it'd be a great time.

Thanks for playing

Good controls, looks solid, but the gun probably needs more kick and might need more enemy variety

Thank you for playing!

Cool game, really love the visuals and the controls feel good. Would be really cool if you could shoot through multiple targets. Almost won but died with 8 seconds left. Good work!

Thanks for taking the time to play my game! I didn't think of shooting through multiple enemies. That sounds like a pretty cool idea. I might add it after the jam's voting period ends.
