Cool idea and good execution. It was pretty hard. In my opinion the controls felt a little slow.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! And yep i think the controls needed some work and the difficulty needed some further tuning . I have an updated version that I likely will put up post jam.

Pretty cool! More weapons would be great here, this have a lot of potential! Amazing job!

Developer

Thank you! Yes i think there's lots of ways to add more content and variation to the idea which is really cool :) Thanks for playing :D

It's a really cool game! I enjoyed it, and I think it would be even more fun to play with my friends, hahaha!

Maybe making the dash a little faster would make the gameplay feel even better. But overall, I really enjoyed your game!

Developer

Thank you for playing and your kind words :D

Ah yeah that makes sense - I think there's definitely tuning that probably needed to happen with dash speed, aim speed etc etc. I appreciate your feedback it really helps :)

Super tight! the AI are very strong though I am fighting for my life haha

Developer

Thanks! :D And yes tuning the AI / the difficulty has definitely been the core thing around this game! It's tough, because after a while of playing you do get better... but should you tailor the difficulty of the AI for a Jam setting... I think there probably should have been bot difficult settings - lesson learned for next time :D

The only multiplayer game I play in this jam

Developer

Thanks for playing - I really appreciate it :)

Great game! It was hard to defeat 1, but it was fun! I think your game fits the theme really well-- I think stealing time is a really good mechanic!

Developer

Thanks for your kind feedback - yeah it seems to work well as an idea but the execution (in particular the difficult might need some tweaks :D )

I struggled even to defeat a single AI opponent, but I really liked that level of difficulty. As for feedback, I found the downtime after a Game Over a bit tedious, so I would love a feature that allows me to spectate other players.

Developer(+1)

I promise it gets easier with practice :D (I've also tweaked things in a version that I might publish after the jam that makes things a little easier too)

Yeah I found that downtime hard to balance too - originally you could respawn but with a small amount of time ... but this basically ruined the whole premise... but I also noticed that, now you die for the round, there's a huge wait if that happens early. Spectate mode might help a bit, that's a great suggestion!

Thanks for playing.

Really fun gameplay loop. Our game actually implemented a similar time-steal mechanic! I found it quite difficult to hit enemies, but I think that is honestly just a skill issue on my part lol. The multiplayer implementation is fucking insane; no idea how you did that in time. Overall, an incredibly polished game and a really impressive entry! GOOD JOB DEVS!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Yeah - I started off pretty rough at the game... but after some play time it got much easier to hit accurately with the twin-stick shooting...

I also like the slight difficulty in hitting in this context, given it leads to long, drawn out duals where it's easier to dodge the bullets (like a bullet hell) than it is to actually hit... which then makes the duals very swingy - where just one hit nabs a bunch of time and puts more pressure on... BUT the dual doesn't end quickly so there's time for tension to build.

I think, on balance, there needs to be some tuning to make it easier to aim/hit... but not all the way :D

Also, I just realised you had like 3 submissions for the game jam. Crazy man, I am assuming a lot of energy drinks and sleepless nights were involved in that. Well done, man! Massive respect.

Coming from a relatively experienced background of engineering + making use of lovely assets from itch.io helped a lot.  Also, choosing ideas which required implementation of mechanics and not heavy refinement of content helped!

...also a lot of late nights and PIZZA :D

AWESOME! Really like the mechanic and the use of the theme!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and your lovely feedback :D

Yeah there were SOOO many ideas I wanted to try when I heard the theme, but this one instantly stood out as a must try - I think it worked out :)

Submitted(+1)

It certainly did!

I REALLY like the idea of stealing time, it reminds me of that one movie where peoples time actually decides how long they have to live. Its crazy that you were able to implement multiplayer.

Developer

Thank you, yes - Justin Timberlake was definitely an inspiration on this one ;)

The idea really works as a forcing function for players to push forward , but as you can see in the comments on here - sometimes it doesn't quite work so more refinement is needed :D

AND thank you :) I think the multiplayer is probably O K for the Jam but I would need to really test it's stability in a real setting lol.

Thanks for playing!

Cool idea, although I found out pretty quickly, that i don't actually have to fight that much and i could just wait out the end of the round after some succesful shots, so there should be something to prevent that. So I wouldn't say that it works as of now, but with some more balancing it could work super well :) The shot logs are obstructing the view a bit, might've been better to put it to the top left corner. Overall a nice little shooter, could be interesting to try out with friends :D

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I think if you are able to hide and get away with it you'll sneak through... and we need something to prevent that from being viable (maybe using some scoring mechanic to promote getting in the action) .

In the current form, the hope would be people start chasing you down though (as you win more time from shooting people with more time remaining in their clock) so to anyone on low time you become a very lucrative hunt.

I really like the time as a health bar mechanic though... I had some incredible back and fourth showdown which i've never really had in other shooters (because usually one of you dies pretty quick in a head to head)

Also very much agreed with your UI feedback - thanks for taking the time to play and comment :)

Ah i see the vision! Yes, that could work iin a multiplayer environment, maybe with more enemies

Developer(+1)

Yeah - I think maybe a higher density of players (smaller map or more players - smaller map might be better because then when there are fewer players remaining you're on a smaller map)

The AI are SUPPOSED to be aggressive in this way... but I think they probably need some tweaking, and as you say - with real players it probably works better.

I think your main inspiration could be diep.io, or you could even sell them your idea, as one of the drawback of that game i think is that if you are overpowered, then you could just afk kinda. I could see your idea being implemented as a gamemode in there. But im just brainstorming here :D

Developer(+1)

Ahh yeah I see the similarity and the applicability.
I think I might do a bunch of prototypes (this mechanic in various different types of games and some tweaks to the mechanic itself) we'll see where that gets me.

Alas, I don't think you can sell ideas but hey , if they want to hit me up, they can :D

really cool!
