Moonstones – a week in an anomaly
Moonstones were installed in the back of the spacesuit, like holes in the spine. You can't live here without them. They change the magnetic field and something else. It's still unclear. Without these stones in the back of the spacesuit, you can't be here. Some insane pressure will destroy you. Like the whisper of bright, white, cold stars, it will burn you with its rays. The mental pain will be unbearable.
But with these moonstones, there's a field. It protects you, and you can walk around like a submarine in this moon's magnetic field. Rusty metal structures. Rust falls here instead of rain. And ash instead of snow. Sometimes it's cold. Sometimes it's hot. The climate is still poorly understood. The entire structure has rusted within a week. So you have to get used to the rust.
And the most dangerous thing is the lunar phantoms. Some kind of energy creations. Fluctuations in the magnetic field. Interacting with the mind. And with machines. With electricity. Computers. Lunar phantoms are something like zombies. They materialize in open spaces. And it's as if they're trying to get into something. They're most often found near enormous stones. Which, like columns of something as ancient as the world, rise high into the air. These things are the source of these fields.
They're difficult to scan; the instruments keep breaking down. And so far, we haven't been able to figure out what they are. But these tall stones are the source of the phantoms. That's what makes it so interesting to be here. The stones rise high into the air. Like metal worms. Stone worms.
The next ship will arrive in a week with new attempts to explore these stones. This has proven more difficult. There's been a strong magnetic storm in orbit for several days now. The ship's communication signal is poor. It's lagging several minutes behind. This is a new effect. You've been here for two weeks now. And you're guarding this station from lunar phantoms. There are eight of you guarding here.
You need to hold out for one week. They just said time is slowing down here. And a week will pass, about two weeks. Some kind of vortex. Changing time. Distorting signals. Some kind of storm is approaching. You'll have to survive it. Then it should subside. The lunar phantoms are already becoming more numerous. Laser weapons are already prepared.
The next ship will bring equipment, a new approach to study. And you will fly home.
