Interesting game, with a cool take on the theme! Is pretty easy to figure out the basic scoring once you click through the first few cycles and the modifiers add in a nice twist to what you are aiming for. Seems equal parts reaction speed and strategy to try and get everything to line up how you want it to for that sweet, sweet high score

Developer

Sweet, sweet review :)) Thank you!

Never thought that stopping a timer could be made into a gameplay mechanic like this. Though unlike Balatro, this might be too reaction dependent to be truly as popular. The art and the sound were simple but fit the game. Overall, a very solid jam game that could easily be spun into a full game with more content and polish

Developer

I believe there would be players who prefer faster-paced gameplay if it became a full game, especially since it’s kind of a roguelite :D I agree with you that it wouldn’t compete with Balatro, though :D Thank you so much for your review :)

Really fun, learning the exact right timing to press in order to get just over (or under) the 1 second interval felt really good. I always saw those youtube videos of people competing to stop the timer on the dot and thinking that would be really easy, but I have been humbled today. For some reason, the web version said WebGL did not work on my browser (firefox) despite every other web game so far working fine, so that was strange. That said, super solid game, got pretty hooked on it for a while.

Developer(+1)

That explains the one download on my dashboard :D I’m sorry it didn’t work in firefox and tbh I don’t know why but I’ll look into it :) Thanks for the review! :)

Ok, so correct me if I'm wrong, but the aim is that the player needs to stop the timer as close to the 00 time of each second shown on the countdown, right?
I was literally waiting for the 00:00 to press the button and wondering why the score was dropping massively. It's an interesting game design!

As this core game loop is skill based, I'd suggest make a screen recording of you playing and talking about the game and upload that to youtube and then link it in your page and in your tutorial section. That way you can keep your current game build.
It will help your new players get up to speed faster so they can really get into the complex modifier system you've designed.

Developer

Yeah it is .00 for each second :D A video would have been nice, I wish I’d thought of that at the beginning of the voting period :D Thanks for your review! :)

Really interesting take on the theme and I really like the 1 button game design and the core mechanic.

I think for a bit of feedback, I found it a bit hard to read my next goal, the text was small and I couldn't read the history after it paused to see why I had won or lost. I think putting your goal(s) underneath or above the timer would make it more legible.

Developer

Yeah you're right, design needs to have a remake with tutorial :) Thank you for your review!

Really cool concept, got that casino itch put of me haha

I know you hadn’t have time to implement a tutorial screen, but I found it self explanatory! :)

Congrats on the game! <3

Developer

Thank you so much :)

Hey! great game! hard to understand with the modifiers though: do we have to stop 2 times each seconds? one at 40-49 to have a x2 modifier and then one time between 0-9 to score points? it's at that time that I stopped playing because if we have to stop 2 times a second, it becomes really repetitive and hard.

Developer

You can stop as many times as you want :) If you place an x2 modifier in the 40–49 range, each time you stop within that range, you’ll earn double points during .10–.00 This bonus is permanent for the rest of the level.

For example, if you stop at 12:48 your multiplier will be x2 and then if you stop 11:44, your multiplier will be x4 and when you stop 11:08 you earn 4 times points. If you also stop at 10:45, your multiplier will become x8 and so on.

The goal of the game isn’t to be extremely precise. Quite the opposite, it’s about strategically choosing your modifiers to make the game easier and more rewarding, allowing you to defeat stronger bosses. This mechanic also makes the game more forgiving because if you miss your timing, you can earn double or even more points on the next second.

Thank you for your review :))

Interesting gameplay! Maybe add a jackpot for landing on 9:99 or other unique numbers? It’d enrich the mechanism.

Developer

Every .00 is a jackpot. It says jackpot in golden and gives you lots of points :) Maybe we can add 7:77 it could be nice touch :D Thank you for your review :)

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, the 7:77 can be a secret jackpot as a Easter egg!

Interesting concept and very well polished for the current content! I have to say it is easier to play than it seems like once you learnt the basics! So I recommend any test players give the dev 2 mins love first and read the instructions :).

The addition of the roguelite is definitely making the game more playable & replayable otherwise it would be a reaction testing game. I think the modifers design are making this game into a different level. Simple to start yet have its own depth! Great work and finishe level!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful review! I’m very happy that you understood what we were going for :) It’s not a reaction-testing game where you have to be super precise down to a hundredth of a second. I don’t even think that’s possible :D It’s all about strategizing and improving your odds and expected score. You can’t and won’t hit the jackpot every time, and you may even have a negative score, but that doesn’t matter. As long as you have a good plan, it should all work out :) Thanks a lot!

Submitted(+1)

Yup! I totally get it and agree with the strategy perspective of this game! I do think that's what make this game unique.

Funny that I hit the .50 reverse effect 4 times in one round! That pushes my mind to rethink the stop button strategy I should use coz the penalty range (0-9) is so close to the reward range (90-99) once reversed lol.

Developer

Reverse button is an extra challenge for me as well :D but look at this way if you delayed .5 seconds exact it would be a very easy game :P

Took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on but then understood what was going on. It's a simple idea but very wel executed! GG on your game jam submission!

Developer

Thanks a lot :) GG on your game jam submission as well :)

Was very confused at the start but then was able to enjoy it, nice concept, well done on your work :) ♥

Developer(+1)

Thank you :)

Submitted(+1)

It really was confusing at first, only after three runs did I start to understand it and it was pretty fun! I liked the mechanic and the modifiers, I like how it interacts with the timer, I like how each boss changes how you play the game, really good!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much :)))

Submitted(+1)

I was kind of confused at first on how to earn points but once i realised how it works it finally clicked, although i found timing pretty hard or maybe i just have very slow reaction times 😭I still don't get how points reversal works though. really good game and its impressive how someone can make pressing only one button to be so engaging.

Developer

Thank you for your kind words :)) You're right, we should add an explanation on reversal mechanic. Basically it multiplies modifiers, punishment and reward range by -1 when you hit .50. We would improve it when jam ends, thanks again :)

Submitted(+1)

Very cool, at first I was a little confused on what exactly I was supposed to be trying to do (as in how do I earn points) but it clicked pretty quickly. Very interesting mechanic and this feels all around very developed. Really like this game, I'm unfortunately pretty bad at it thought lol

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much :) Sorry for the confusion, couldn't finish the tutorial in time :/

Submitted(+1)

That was very nice! I struggled a bit at first with the timing but I got better at it over time and I enjoyed it a lot. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much :)

Submitted(+1)

Who knew pushing a single button would have so much depth to it? I like the take of interacting with the countdown and not having it just be a simple timer. Very clever idea.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing :) I’m really happy that you saw my intention :)

Submitted(+1)

This game triggers a rush of pleasure when you manage to stop the timer at the perfect moment. It’s particularly forgiving that pressing the button too early results in a pause rather than a penalty.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your wonderful review! So happy you liked the game :)

Submitted(+1)

Very nice game! loved it, it is so simple to understand, but really fun to play. first run i got -600 points, but the next one i got 700 points.   ;D

Developer(+1)

That's how it should be :D Thanks a lot for your kind feedback. I'm so glad you liked the game :))

Submitted(+1)
