I was expecting a better game from the comments and ratings.
Firstly, the game is pretty poorly optimized, I lagged several times. This wouldn't be a bad thing but the style this game goes for, the PSX style, was done specifically for lower-end softwares, yet I'm lagging with a mid-build PC.
Secondly the game was more funny then scary. The characters going 'hor hor hor hor' and the design of the humans is hilarious, which would be okay for a comedy, not a horror. Big bulbous heads with what are obviously just PNGs stapled on.
Thirdly, the story. I get the feeling this game was intentionally trying to be ambiguous with what was going on, but it doesn't work because its doing three different things. Mark, the shadows, and the mentioned outbreak. My guess is that the shadows are a result of the outbreak and being contaminated by Mark, but even then thats flimsy because how did they know about the gun? And that doesn't explain the double.
Related, the story is very linear with zero interaction for me as the player. Even if, in the grand scheme, nothing changes, why couldn't I choose to disobey the shadows and stay asleep? Or why couldn't I choose to tell Mark about the gun or not?
Finally, theres no difference in shooting Mark afaik. The ending is the same no matter what. I wouldn't have played again even if I did land tails (because thats what the choice was; a coin flip) because the game is lackluster, but it would've been at least cool if there was any difference.
In summary; the game is pretty poorly optimized for a PSX game, its more funny than scary, and the player has little interaction
