How does your game fit the theme?
EMBERFALL fits COUNT DOWN on four layers: 1. The intro cinematic literally counts down 03 → 02 → 01 as the ember is pulled through the portal into the dark below. 2. Your Glow bar counts down with every action — vision, spells and dash all drain the same light, and the screen visibly darkens as you spend it. 3. Each room shows a foes X/Y counter — you're counting down the enemies you have to clear before the exit unlocks. 4. Hit zero Glow and a 3-second dark-out timer starts. Don't find light in time and the run ends. The countdown isn't a HUD number in the corner — it's the world going out around you.

The concept of light being a resource was interesting since it restricts your vision, but it feels like you just can't afford to use it. I wouldn't dash, and would only shoot when I'm right in front of an enemy to get glow back on kill. The melee just didn't work most of the time, but this was probably for the best because then there's no need to shoot and actually consume glow.

It was fun to play through all the levels. If the characters had different abilities it would add a lot of replay value. Reminds me of Nuclear Throne.

Pretty fun little game. I found it kinda frustrating how i couldn't gauge the player hitbox so i got stuck on corners of hallways a lot. Also the attack hitbox i didn't get at all. I like the vibes and it's surprisingly fun, tho walking around to reach the enemies could use with some excitement :). PS some of the sounds are way too loud, had to put the music to 1%.

Thanks a lot for playing and for taking the time to write such detailed feedback! You're absolutely right about the hitboxes, that's something I'll definitely revisit after the jam. The sound balance also needs some work 😅. I'm really happy you enjoyed the atmosphere and the overall idea though. Comments like yours are exactly why I joined the jam, so thank you!

The music, visuals, and atmosphere are A++. Incredibly polished main menu. The main concept (shooting bullets reduces how much you can see, which is like a secondary health barrow), is cool. I think the game as it is too easy such that once I realized bullets were a limited resource, it wasn't particular hard to win the run with the short-ranged attack that doesn't consume glow. Maybe having glow deplete naturally so you're in a rush to kill the next enemy or having the short ranged attack also deplete glow at a slower rate than bullets would help it all come together.  All in all a fun experience with a lot of potential!

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked the atmosphere and the Glow mechanic. Your balancing suggestions are very interesting, especially the part about relying too much on the melee attack. That's exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping to get from the jam. I'll definitely keep it in mind if I continue developing the game. Thanks again for taking the time to play!

I think this game has the best graphics I've seen so far, and its polished and very good mechanics.

Wow, thank you so much! That really means a lot, especially knowing how many great games were made for this jam. I'm really happy you enjoyed both the visuals and the gameplay. Thanks for giving Emberfall a try!
