I quite liked this game. I like specifically that it feels achieveable in a single sitting, without much need to read instructions. I felt pressured to get back to counting sheep, but also not like it was ever super out of left field how to acheive the goal to get back to bed. I don't have much feedback because for what it is, I think it's quite well crafted. Maybe a little more lore in the hidden details in the background, but that's just a bonus or icing, not even needed.
It took me a while to get the hang of it, but when I did it was so satisfying. I ended up having to essentially hit fire on every beat to keep the beat, which meant wasting a lot of ammo. I think one thing I'd like to see if the timing of the firing animation a little tighter, some better visual cue for what the beat is, especially on the pistol. And also some audible or visual feedback when I miss the beat. Also, for a game that's very beat focused, I think I'd like to see the animations and movement a bit faster paced. This is totally my type of game, so if you push out updates I'd like to play them. Love music, love shooters!
I think this is the game I spent the most time on so far in the jam. I really like how in the beginning I could just randomly place and feel like I was making progress. But on replay, I really wanted to learn the rules and how to combine placements to optimize the results. By the time I actually had a good handle on the rules, I was rewarded by making it all the way to rank 8 and getting all kinds of bonuses. I would love for you to flesh the lore out a bit because I would def come back to this.
I like the artwork and gameplay, but honestly I couldn't really get the loop down. The one time I made it very far I just spammed saber and railgun as fast as I could, throwing in a few boosts and items to mix it up. I wasn't sure if the mechanic was timing based, and I got the impression it'd let me queue up attacks but it only seemed to fire the last one. I'd love to come back and play it again when I have time to digest the instructions a little better. High marks for a game jam!
Love this game! I really want to get further, but unsure how the obalisk works if I place it and it doesn't extend influence, also not sure why my demon isn't killing the green fiend. I'll need to replay and read the tutorial again more carefully, but def want to come back and master this game. It's really fun.
