Wow the art is beautiful, and the atmospheric music really brings the game together. Great job :)

reminded me of clustertruck, love the vibe of everything, music and lens flares and simple but stylized look. mechanics took me a few tries to get the hang of but started to get more intuitive as i kept playing, i would personally love an inverted vertical camera also! super cool arcadey game!

I really liked this game, was super satisfying to play. I like the whole vibe and the visuals, it had a weird atmosphere that I liked. I don't think the game was explained very well though so I wasn't really sure what would kill me or not, but I sorta got the hang of it? You kinda just press defense when you hear the projectile coming, though it is very unintuitive since the defense comes out the back when the projectiles are in front. Fun game.

Thanks! Indeed the vibes, the atmosphere and the visuals were the strong point here. I guess the story I tried to explain it the best in the description and let the player kind of put the pieces together, but I know I put almost no effort in the storytelling haha.

And yes, pretty much that's how you would dodge the projectiles! A combination of maneuvering, gravitating and when it gets too difficult, you can use your flares, where the missiles target. Indeed I noticed that some times the turrets do shoot after you get past them. I had a threshold that the turret would not shoot at after you surpassed, but perhaps that wasn't enough. Or I should of added more visual cues as to when a missile is incoming. You could still dodge them if you hear them coming and deploy flares. But clearly, user experience matters. Thanks again for the feedback! I'll definitely consider them on the next iteration :)

Visuals were very good, but I wasn't really sure how to dodge the incoming hazards

Developer

Thanks! I think the visuals helped a lot with the abstract feel that I wanted to achieve. For the hazards, you had to use your maneuvers and flares (right click)! :)

The artstyle / graphics on this game matched so well with the music giving it a cool atmosphere. The movement mechanics were pretty easy to pick up and felt super smooth, great work! If you were to continue working on it, I think giving the game a more clear goal and explanation on how you might win/lose would help. I died several times with no idea what caused it, and I was never sure if what I was doing was actually the right thing. But the game itself was solid, great work!

Developer

Glad you liked the mechanics! That was the main challenge in the beginning, getting the controls right.

Yes indeed perhaps the win/loos part of the loop was a bit abstract. Or at least not explained in game much. Basically you had to make it to the portal before the Storm catches up to you. And in the mean time, you had to dodge the huge lasers and avoid incoming attacks with your flares and maneuvers. I had a threshold that prevented the turrets from hitting you after you surpassed them, but I think that threshold was too far ahead haha. Good to know for the future and thanks for the honest feedback!
