Very hectic gameplay. It took quite a bit of experimenting to understand that I was supposed to slide through the words like in fruit ninja. Once I am used to the core gameplay loop it feels quite satisfying.

Like others have said this game is extremely difficult due to the infrequent appearance of useful words and how your opponent can steal words that is not on the screen. I feel like it would be better if he was actually competing to find words on screen so that would at least give you a chance of beating him in time. I finally managed to beat him but that's mostly by abusing multiple # tiles to pretty much force a long word. The bombs are quite a hassle too and it might be better to have more frequent bombs that only explodes if you accidentally cuts them like in fruit ninja.

That said, the game is very well polished. The UI is slick and graphics are clear to read. Great work on the submission!

i dont know why, but i couldnt get this to play smooth on my computer, there was a lot of freezing with that bzzzzt that happens when the last sound you heard repeats itself after a freeze, kind of creepypasta-y, i tried multiple browsers too but nothing worked :(

this reminds me a lot of danganronpa minigames and a bit of fruit ninja with the word cutting. the game seems super well polished and the audio and visuals work super well together. i like the fun surfer vibes too (thats the best way i can describe it haha)

the little i did play of it, it felt a bit too overstimulating to me, but it might just be the mood that im in right now doenst particularly fit the game. theres always stuff flying around and having to look frenetically for the letters to fit the word, when suddenly a bomb shows up and ruins everything! i also had a lot of trouble having the full words show up for me too, like i would always get a letter and hold on to it, and maybe get the second letter flying around as well, but the third would never come in time… maybe i was really unlucky

unfortunately it wasnt for me, but i can see all the effort put into this and my experience being somewhat negative does not detract from it, you guys deserve the praise!

Okay, this was wow. Yeah, it's been difficult but enjoyable as well.

I like the premise of spelling words and trying to get them down.

But I would say it's really difficult because of the number of ways it could go wrong (I don't think it's a bad thing per se)

Threats to deal with:

  • If any letter going into your slice position while slicing, misspell is yeah like rip.
  • Didn't yeet out the bomb before it screws you over big time.
  • Accidentally starting slice mode while trying to lock things into place (sharing a key only different in hold/conditions), killed me so many times.
  • The word you got going? Yeah mr. (-------) humpty dumpty is gonna steal it. (Screw that guy btw, the catharsis I felt winning has never been so high. The I love to hate with my full guts type of guy.)
  • Didn't get anything viable to start with? Good luck! by the time you got the set up death.
  • If one of the tiles gets off screen, the word you made while slicing is nonfunctional.

It's difficult, a lot of the above is fair and getting better would absolutely be rewarding. The only thing off is the controls is yeah. I think it's all missing a better onboarding/tutorial since like I was trying to learn, I died because I didn't even what locking scrabble stuff looks like, another because I didn't even know how to deal with bombs until I yeeted them away; and dealing with intrusive letters by moving the locked stuff up while yeeting stuff was another. Stuff that I felt like should be taught to begin with. I'm not sure if the lack of a restart button is intentional, but I kinda just knew that I was screwed I'd pause, go to main menu and replay. The absolute dread when I saw there were 2 harder difficulties while I was playing was ??? (until I beat the game which made sense, it's just either you lose hard or they lose hard).

Overall, I love how polished and well made this is. The characters, the settings, the adrenaline, the concept, the gameplay loop, the absolute scramble to get it done right. The music is awesome, the sound effects, and just the general atmosphere of a radical experience is yeah. The tiles being scrabble as well is a nice touch. I love the environments as I fell, the bar at the side showing how low you are is really sufficient.

Anyways, COWABUNGA! Thank you for submitting!

This crazy well polished! I'm seriously impressed how much you completed in such a short time!

Well, no matter how many times I try, I couldn’t hit more than a single word, and in fact I can’t even understand how it is humanly feasible. I’m not fan of the “stealing words” mechanics, even less the bomb. The game is already very difficult, but having an opponent that prevent you from succeeding or regularly ruin all your efforts… It makes it impossible. After 2 penalties the fall seems too fast anyway, the letters don’t stay on screen long enough to allow a single word, and every 3 seconds there’s another explosion and a word stolen. I must admit it was quite frustrating.

Too bad, because the presentation is exceptional! The crazy setting, the aesthetic, the tone… It creates something unique! Maybe it could work better if the difficulty was more “chill” or less punitive (there’s a negative reinforcement loop: the more you lose, the harder the game becomes, and so the more you lose again). The core loop has strength, I like how chaotic it presents itself. I just wish it wasn’t punishing me right in the first seconds. x)
