A jam submission

2X_SPRINTView game page

Beat a course, then play it again at 2x the run speed and 1/2 the time limit. And yes, it stacks.

How does your game fit the theme?
2X_SPRINT is a platformer with a countdown timer, but every time you beat a level, your player gets twice as fast and your countdown timer gets cut in half. While countdown timers are already a big part of the platforming genre, I wanted to lean more into it by making the timer a more dynamic part of the game, so your increasing speed scales against its decreasing time limit until it can beat you.

Had a lot of fun just optimizing the first level once it got out of control and I would for sure play more levels of this

Developer

That makes me so happy to hear, thank you!!

My goal is to reach 64x.

Developer

I believe in you! (It's definitely possible, at least on the first level)

I had fun challenging my self, nice game!
is X64 humanly possible ? like X32 was insane, and i tried X64 couple of times but i don't think it could be done xD

Developer

Amazing PB, and I'm glad you had fun! One of my friends cleared 64x so it's definitely possible!

Super fun! I started to lose all my sanity only at x16 XD

Honestly Fun concept and love how quickly the game goes from precise platforming to rapidly mashing the space bar on the wall and flying back and forth across the level. And the rotoscoped sprites are actually pretty clever i liked it

one thing so especially noticeable  in the lower speeds is that the jumping doesn't feel too good, maybe a jump buffer would be cool.

Also x64 is practically mocking me with how possible and impossible it looks at the same time

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll make sure to experiment with a jump buffer next time I take another swing at this game, I definitely think that'll give better gamefeel. And I've heard 64x is possible! Just haven't done it myself yet though lol

I swear x64 speed in 2sec is doable i just don't have the skill... Fun quick concept, love it

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! One of my friends told me she cleared level 1 on 64x speed, but I haven't been able to push 32x LOL

This was fun... I made it to the "You have 16 seconds and no hope of finishing" stage. Very chaotic but very easy to understand what you need to do and the controls were good. Although I had expected more to attack than the dude's stack of Amazon packages at his door :)

Good game, thanks for making it.

Developer

LOL thanks for the comment! I wanted to have some enemies to fight off as well (my concept was to rotoscope myself doing weird motions on all-fours for the monsters), but I didn't have enough time... I'm just glad I got to have anything for the attack at all, the boxes were an addition the night before the deadline!

heh, I feel ya... I pulled an all-nighter last night to get our submission over the line. It's been a very long time since I've had to do that.

Cool game! It’s funny how the levels get harder from being able to move faster. I kept over shooting!

Props for allowing different controls as well!

Good job!
