When I downloaded and ran it, I got just a black screen. I had a similar issue with another submission, but that was because they were using a custom engine which turned out to have a bug affecting only old GPUs. It's strange that it's happening with Godot, since I use that as well and have never had this issue.

For next time, since you're using Godot anyway, consider making a web export to make it more accessible and less likely to have issues like that. It's quite easy to setup and will also help get more plays / ratings since some people might not want to run unknown executables on their PCs.

I considered it but have had issues with web exports in the past and wasn't sure how well browsers would handle a 3D game. If I ever do more jams I'll be sure to get browser versions of those projects tested and working though.

Sorry the game didn't work on your machine, thanks for trying anyway!

One of my favourite submissions so far, had a great time playing.

The handdrawn retro art is really good and the committment to the style with the windows UI and characater portrait animations is impressive (I see you are an artist so that makes sense).

I think the level design stood out most to me, it was well designed and I enjoyed each of the ones I played (though I did get stuck in the rivers a couple a times)

With just a couple of balance changes and improvements to enemies to increase difficulty, theres a really good game in here.

And for me personally I think the janky controls fit the retro style well and it didn't take me too long to get use to them.

Keep up the good work!

I really wish you could use the mouse, combining E Q looking around with WASD and throwing in a mazelike map design was a bit annoying lol. I got to the red level, not sure if there's an ending but it took me quite a while, and I think my timer started going down way faster for some reason and time wasn't any issue until the drops that give time stopped being spawned. The music sounded interesting but was a bit annoying after a while. Ok sorry for being so negative, but I really loved the art, especially how the character's hood would mimic a mouth for expressions, you are really creative man!! And the shotgun was pretty cool too. Glad to see I wasn't the only one making an FPS :D

There is technically an end state (you know you get there when the music changes) but you basically beat it. And yeah the timer does get faster each layer (and then once a loop when you get to the red layer). I'm glad you liked some parts of it at least! it's definitely pretty rough and there are a few things I wanna improve/change for a potential post jam version.
Thanks for playing!

Hope I didn't come off too negative, I just wanted to give honest feedback so you could improve upon it. I really liked the ideas you had (also forgot to compliment the UI being little windows), and it would've been a super fun experience if not for some slight annoyances. Hope to see more games from you in the future gamejams :D

Nah you're good. You were pretty polite and everything you said was fair.

The level design is probably the games biggest weakness IMO, and I know the control scheme is kinda weird. There was a reason for it but I didn't have time to actually add that reason and by the time I got to that point I couldn't change to a more normal scheme either.

I dig the retro art style and the gameplay similar to Doom or Quake. However, the control schemes just don't mesh well together. Having to stop just to turn because Q & E are used by the same hand as movements takes me out of the immersion. I can see that there are a lot of cool ideas in here, but controlling it was not a pleasant experience.

Controls for this game were rough. It was giving old doom gameplay though.
