if you're open to barebones text based games then twine is really good. there is some extra coding that you can do if you want but 1) its stupid easy to learn 2) the reddit and discord are both super active and SUPER helpful and 3) its entirely optional. you could make a whole choose your own adventure twine game with no coding other than [[this option]] [[or this option]]. Super super easy. it was my intro into game dev and now im pretty good at ren'py.
