I think as a game with an educational message, this does a good job! Grafting is a huge part of what enables the agricultural industry to thrive, and this communicates the core of how it works. So in terms of triadic game design, I think both its meaning and reality are already pretty clear. Like others, I had some bugs, though in case the bugs are different I’ll lay them out here: for some reason after completing the first task (which worked just fine), every time I picked up a box and put it down it would increase in length by about two-fold and decrease in thickness by roughly the same. The table also no longer registered the boxes as being placed on it, and the point that boxes would be dropped from had shifted pretty far left of the camera. For the sake of reproducibility, I’ll say that leading up to this bug, I had cut two different plants without having picked the first box up (not sure if that’s at all related, but you would know better than I would). In any case, I think you’re working with a solid concept! The main thing is just implementation, and perhaps expanding the game a little to better motivate the player to engage with it if you have the bandwidth.
I love the art style and game concept! Like other people, I had trouble with the gameplay! Good luck!
Definitely interaction hitboxes, or whatever the interaction mechanism is - needs a lot of work. The game is cute and so are the dancing flowers, you can definitely add more fantasy elements like https://www.friv.com/z/games/dorasmagicalgarden/game.html does if you want to go that way. The game seems interesting otherwise!
And yes I forgot to mention the cubes stretching like pulled spaghetti in the form 😅
Looking forward to updates in the game!
I love the art style of the game it was charming. I feel the gameplay was rough. I somehow kept running into a bug where I couldn't pick up a flower to graft. I don't know if I was the only one but I kept getting stuck. Another thing I really like was how when collecting the not it appears on the board so you can still read it that was a very nice mechanic. Great game so far.
I really like the concept, but the gameplay felt really rough and I had a really hard time (and couldn't do much) trying to play.
Like some people say the UI needs a lot of work, but also the game isn't super intuitive which can make a new player feel frustrated.
The visuals are really good, I really like the flowers!
I find the game to be very fun and engaging! I really like the art style and music that you went with. The objective of this game was very simple and straightforward; I had no issues with figuring out what to do. The only issue I had was picking up two or more items. After acquiring the first plant, I was unable to get the second one. I kept pressing the E button until I quit the game. Also, when I dropped the item from my inventory by pressing E, the geometry of the item increased in its size which was another bug. Despite not officially completing the demo, I did find it enjoyable. Great work, guys!
the physics based moving and placing the objects around really feels like more trouble than it's worth, same with the game being 3-dimensional at all, it's not really making use of the space and the ui definitely needs a lot more work before i would consider releasing this project. hopefully it's a lot better by the time the next sprint is done, because i do like the concept of grafting and combining plants to solve unique problems, but currently it doesn't feel very engaging.
I really liked the visual and the sound! The board idea is also great. Interaction with the last two boxes did not work. It may not be implemented yet. In addition, the basic mechanics of stacking objects on objects (such as seeds on a bench) are not so easy to use. If I understood correctly, then the seeds must lie completely on the surface, otherwise the interaction will not work. I would probably make the trigger zone just bigger.
Good luck with the development and I'm waiting for the final version of the project!
Oh! We are so sorry it didn't work. We playtested and could reach the end of the game but as you said, yes, the objects must lie completely on the surface and that might be an issue. We will keep working on it, thank you for your feedback.
