Good job on making a game.  The jumping w/the coin collection mechanic was fun,  Unfortunatley it doesn't fit the theme at all.  I understand you're saying it's about the cost of presession in western society but you saying how it fits the theme doesn't show at all in the game and therefore I can't use that as evidence for it.  In my opinion it's about you getting your family to a rocketship.  Nothing back the theme up, nothing shows what you need to do.  There is no risk in the game and that's where it falls short for me.  The biggest issue is that there is no reward, once you jump to the next section it says you win, only you.  It makes no sense and sadly there was no click in my head.

good job getting the game made, but lets see where you can bring it next!

Thanks for your feedback...yeah, there's still a lot to do to make it a fully developed game that someone would want to come back to. I learned a lot about programming and about Godot though!

You're right that there is an implied message, but did you notice that you cannot actually progress without taking the coins from the "families"? Your jump ability increases with each coin you collect, and you need to reach a certain number of coins to actually be able to make it to the island. The cost is to the others in the game, not yourself...I was hoping the "No!" audio clip when you take their coin would indicate this, but maybe it doesn't do a good enough job of doing so.

It’s not exactly clear what’s going on but I assume I’m some kinda billionaire or maybe a tax collector taking money from families which I then escape with to my private island? What does the enemy represent?

Gameplay wise, it’s a very simple platformer. No real challenge beyond avoiding the enemy and nailing a couple of jumps, but great job putting it together in time and delivering for the jam! Keep on making and keep on learning

Thanks for the feedback! I actually wanted the player to have to figure out how to progress, and yes you are right about the billionaire taking money from families and their private island. The enemy can represent the "evil" forces that stop billionaires from easily taking money, or whatever (really it was a means for me to learn how to make such a moving enemy :) )

Was it noticeable that your jump ability increased with each coin you stole from the families, and that you have to steal them all to make the platform jump possible? I fiddled with the increase increment quite a bit, but maybe I landed on something too small to really notice...

A fun play, love the art style.

note - only the Arrow Key + Space move mechanics worked.

Thanks for letting me know! I'll have to fix that...

Update: Fixed it on my build and will update the uploaded build once Jam voting is over.

Simple, I like it!  One thing to note, WASD doesn't work even though it says it does.
Also, absolutely love the pixel art!

D'oh! Thanks for pointing that out.

Update: Fixed it on my build and will update the uploaded build once Jam voting is over.
