Love this game but it confused me so much, I'll explain the main rules in case you are also confused. The rest is in the book.
Basics:
Your are given coins, and you have to sum up their values.
Animals live in nations. Each nation has its own version of gold+silver+copper coins, signified by a symbol on the coins, called Paws and Talons and so on. Coins with no symbol are called Commons but they work the exact same way.
You always pay out in coppers. Your book tells you how exactly to convert each nation's gold and silver coins to their copper coins. Coppers are always valued at 1 of that nation's currency. So 1 copper Paw coin is paid out as +1, while 1 silver Paw coin is paid out as +12, as seen in the book. This in total would be a payment of +13 Paws that you put in your calculator.
Advanced:
Sometimes you are asked to pay out in a different nation's currency than what you were given, you can see the symbol of the currency they want in your calculator. This means any coins you added up, you need to convert their value to the right nation's currency before submitting.
Page 43 and onward tells you the exchange rate between their copper coins.
Things to watch out for:
Copper and Gold coins kinda look similar. The coins you get from the first customer of the game are copper.
If your book is open, sometimes it covers up coins on your desk, remember to count those too.
If you get decimal numbers while converting, keep using them until you are ready to submit, then round your number, always up, to get your final number. Only round once, at the end.
Beans:
The gold and silver coins of Beans (Legacy) and Beans (Current) are identical, nothing changed about them except the symbol. But copper Beans (Current) are a new coin twice as valuable as copper Beans (Legacy), so when we express our Silver and Gold Beans (doesn't matter if it's legacy or current) in the new Bean system, they can only buy half as many coppers. A silver Bean (whether legacy or current) buys 10 copper Beans (Legacy), or 5 copper Beans (Current). 2 legacy copper Beans convert to 1 current copper Bean.
Gems:
Gems can have different weights even if they look exactly the same. Drag the gem onto the scales to see how many grams it weighs.
The book tells you how much money one gram of each gemstone is worth, expressed in Common coins. For example, having 1 gram of Diamonds is like having 20 copper Common coins.
