Yoooo, tank controls HYPE, and it's the two inputs style like Virtual On YES. Very cool game design, I like how the different challenge shots were laid out in the first area, and then the way the story pivots to freeing the souls (I hope I was freeing the souls? Had to think afterwards was I just sending them into the void lol...)

The touching translucent gold bit was very funny, I spent a little while trying to complete one of the challenge shots in that camera angle before finally hitting the heart thing to reset the camera. Also liked how in the last area when you free a couple of souls you get a golden colour filter on the screen, for some reason it felt a bit Okami-esque and made me audibly "wow!". Had an awesome time with this one, lovely art style too!

Thank you!  The Cyber Sled and Virtual On games have my favorite control scheme(s) of all time.  Besides the Katamari games, it's hard to believe that it never took off in the era of the dual joystick gamepad.  I will carry the torch for this control scheme forever.

The Yazmody character model looks great! I like the way the tank controls.

Developer

Thanks!  This is my favorite control scheme, based on the 1993 arcade game Cyber Sled(and definitely not the PS1 port(they completely butchered the controls)) and also the Katamari games.  I couldn't believe my luck when-this year-there was an actual tank character.

Simple, yet fun gameplay! I got pretty good at the throwing by the end which felt nice. Cool to see your improvement from last year.

Developer

Thank you!  I was certainly happier this year with the outcome as a full game experience.  I actually learned the pick up and throw mechanics from a Youtube video just a couple weeks before the jam started; this year came together so much better.

I really love the controls! It’s so cool and intuitive to control a character like this! I remember that I  enjoyed this concept in your game last year too, and I’m so glad you kept iterating on it and incorporating it into new ideas like this one! Really cool and I can’t wait to see what else you make!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!  The last couple of months, I've been testing a lot of different mechanics to find my next personal project.  So, I definitely have a lot of leads for next year.

Cool control scheme, nice Yazmody character model!

Developer

Thanks!  I couldn't believe my luck when a tank character got drawn from the pool;  A character that's relatively easy to model(Blender is the bane of my existence...) and fits with the control scheme that I was already going to use!  A genuine gift from the cosmos and CalledSpaceCowboy.

Gameplay goals are a nice mix of pool, golf, and bowling. Fun controls.

Thank you!  I actually just learned the pick up and throw mechanics for a project I was testing a couple weeks before the jam.  Between this and the fact that I got to use my tank controls for an actual tank character, this was a really lucky jam for me.

The vibes in the last room were really nice. Also, your Gatekeeper design is adorable!

Developer

Thanks!  Adding fog in Godot is such an easy cheat code for changing the mood.  I was quite happy with how it turned out.

Appreciate the snooker vibes haha. Disappointed you didn't try to teach Kyle about John Virgo 😂

I meant to have title cards for each of the sections, but time got away from me.  The last section with the trapped souls was going to be Crucible Curse.

Ah love that! Right way to do it too - things that work as weird cool phrases for Kyle but fun nods for those who know

Cool movement, you really nailed how Yazmody should feel. Pretty sure this breaks the "should not be seen touching translucent gold" rule though...

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks!  Y'know, I had particular idea about the gold and thought, "Should I break the rule for it?"  (To be honest, I mostly included it in case Kyle does it on stream.)

haha fair enough. you're right it is a fun moment.
