Ok this is truly novel. We have survivors style progression system but instead oh hordes we have rare sturdy enemies with which we engage in high speed manoevre combat. This was very cool. I sucked at playing but I retried several times and got the first boss and in general figured out that if I swing in a circle on jets I usually cant be hit while slowly disposing of enemies
Very cool game! My eyes struggled a bit with it but that's a me issue xD It was fun to play and the art was cool!!
I LOVED playing your game. I didn't get past the first stage as I suck at shooting games but I honestly retried several times because you made such an engaging item. I didn't find the theme in the game though? But nevertheless props on your for making such a cool game in such a short amount of time !
between the fluid movement, the aggressive dithering, the different weapon types (all feeling really good), and the fact that the environment basically melts around you as you dash through houses and stuff, this is game is just... really, really cool.
i like how the class system is based on weapon pairings, it makes it really easy to experiment. my favorite might be The Judge, the contrast between the rifle requiring careful aim at a distance while the shotgun encourages you to get close and move fast is a lot of fun. i wasn't a fan of the Pick One Of Three Random Things Every Round aspect initially, but i kinda got into once i realized it let me feel like i was customizing my mech without having to slow down the pace of the gameplay. so it works on a thematic level, while also contributing some basic roguelike flair to the gameplay, if you're into that sorta thing.
The judge is peak. It’s hard to get there, but he’s also the final boss! We didn’t get to adding captions to give the bosses speaking lines, but his character sprite and personality were to be based off of Judge Holden from the book Blood Meridian.
I also thought the theme for the jam was “only two colors”. So… absolutely no sleeping whatsoever… ToT
very cool game, good job 👍
