ughhhh its hard liking furry vns some if not all of them are either semi finished and in slow development or just plain abandoned like -_- don't make a vn if your just gonna abandon it don't see why they made this if its just gonna be abandoned or ignored
everyone has the right to complain about a game as long as there is a genuine issue going around it

making a vn is hard, you are right, but you can't always expect people to praise you for your work when they don't get the outcome they've asked for, and in this case, there's none, which is understandably upsetting to a lot of fans.
these creators built a huge fanbase around a beautiful vn they've made, so it's their fault for not taking accountability for their time and resources- not the fans, not anyone else. even if they didn't mean to.
not tryna create beef or paint you as some evil guy. people sometimes just make mistakes, and it's okay. :P I honestly just wanted to yap.

On your point, idk, maybe because I work in software space and know how time consuming it is to create a product, let alone an indie product that you're essentially working on for free and only with some donations? And on top of that, have you even considered given that this is not their full time gig, they still have their irl problems to contend to? Attitudes like yours is exactly why some projects go to die, all about consuming and not giving anything back.

People like you already have it hard, and comments like that only put more pressure on you. You’re right, it’s not like we’re paying for this project, we’re getting it for free, so we shouldn’t complain about it. It’s not like they ripped us off or something.
Don't apologize to that person. They had absolutely 0 reason to be as much of a douche to the people they're responding to in these comments are you apology for standing up for someone just makes them feel justified. It IS difficult to make these types of things, however if you promise monthly updates (I am a patron and a large number of others are) then you absolutely can complain about the lack of content
A ton of creators go on long hiatuses and most of them aren't as communicative as this stream is. Yes, some people are reading for free and some people are paying but, regardless of your situation, coming into comment threads to attack people and telling them that they're "the reason why games die" just makes you a terrible person and what's wrong with this community.
TLDR; Everyone is entitled to their opinion and shouldn't be attacked for it. Saying "If you don't like it, you try doing it" is a stupid deflective argument that people who have nothing better to contribute say to try and make themselves feel good. It's been a year without updates, let people complain and stop white knighting for a group that doesn't know you exist
I did find it wrong that he insulted people in the first place but since they worked these types of things I thought maybe I'm just not understanding this and I should step out and apologize. not my fish to fry.
