I like the swapping concept in this one. I wish this game was longer and wasn't so easy to get stuck.
The swap mechanic is so fun! I hope you choose to expand on this demo into a full game. As the game is 1 button and the crank it would be nice to use a directional button to swap so you can more comfortably swap and aim at the same time for that spiderman feel. The start menu is also really cute, swapping with the title was a fun surprise.
Glad you enjoyed it!! And actually the up button also swapped (and holding down restarts) but the documentation is a bit sparse! I’ll probably need to play around with it too to see what directional button feels the most ergonomic as well. But I also hope I expand it to a full game :)
I love how easy it is to play, the look of it and the fx and animations - I wish I could play for longer, maybe level based?
Thank you! And level based was the plan, though I ran out of time :)
Aiming + swapping was really intuitive. Despite demo being short, I immediately got it and had fun. Great work!
Thank you for the feedback!!
Definitely the most visually polished game I've seen from PlayJam 10! I had decent fun acting like Spider-Man swapping directly from bird to bird but there really isn't more to see in it's current state. The lack of movement does add some interesting nuance that I think could be expanded if you allowed the rock to swap with momentum or use a fast fall (because it's heavy).
I adore the look of the game but definitely wish there was more to chew on with this submission.
Thank you! Definitely spent a good amount of the dev time on visual polish lol. Appreciate the feedback! Definitely like the idea of capturing momentum when swapping! I was planning to have moving enemies but I think capturing their momentum instead of just dropping would open up some possibilities!
I updated the file, so it should work now!
You've only got the .pdx file uploaded here, which isn't playable on its own :O You need the whole game.pdx folder to run it. You can package it as a zip file to upload it to Itch. Check with PossiblyAxolotl to see if you can still submit it!
Ugh, dang. You think I'd remember this step with this being my 6th playdate game. I'll ask!
It looks like other people are playing it, but I got another error ;_;

Interesting, seems like something with trying to load the map, but I from what I can tell the project still has both the .ldtk file and the .lua version of the map :/, and I haven't been able to replicate the error. Are you playing on device or simulator?
I had a lot more ideas that I never got to, but still pretty pleased with how it came out, even though it’s definitely a really small demo at present!
