I didn't end up using all of these - but i downloaded these sounds from freesound for development

This was fun! The last donut made me feel smart, which I like in a game, haha. I was hoping I could swap to the bigger rock and play through with that one after I realized I could jump the pit. I liked the peaceful music also.

Wow this was really great!! I had a lot of fun with it! Reminds of an old iPhone game, Rolando, but the vibes were great! Got stuck in one of the blocks at one point, but overall the concept was really fun! I echo some of the other comments about the swapping being a little awkward and hard to tell which one I’m close enough too to swap to.

Impressively polished for a jam! I found the style of the game to be quite charming, gave me Pikuniku vibes. The mechanic I think would be well suited for a that sort of puzzle-platformer rpg genre. My only complaint was the way you select things to swap felt a bit weird when there were a lot of objects near each other, like the screen with the 3 teeter-totters, I had a hard time selecting the object I wanted. One idea I have in this instance would be pressing the swap button lets you select any of the objects on the screen, perhaps with the crank to cycle through and then pressing again locks you to that object. I'm not sure if that would feel good or not, but it's one possible way to decouple your proximity to the object with your ability to select it.

Really nice submission!

I really dig that idea - I had a swap through anything on screen but at the time the visual feedback felt unclear so i opted to one swap only. In a future iteration I’m definitely something like yours / others suggestion. Thanks for playing and sharing this feedback.

I had a lot of fun with this game. Enough that I just had to get that last donut! To mirror other comments, being able to more easily swap between the characters on screen would be a massive quality of life improvement. I’d love to see this expanded to a full game. The physics works really nicely. Don’t suppose you want to open source this? 👀

Thanks for the feedback, I agree 100%. And despite the QoL problems, you getting all the donuts makes me so happy haha.

I think im going to keep working on this. & of course - I’ll share the physics file sometime soon.

Fun physics and relaxing music :)

I couldn't stop until I got the last donut - the game and the mechanics are really fun. I would love to see more levels and meet new characters you can swap with, in a more complete game!

Developer

thank you so much! I’m so glad you got all the donuts. I’m definitely thinking about expanding this / thinking about how I could create more varied puzzles that span over multiple rooms.

The pre-made sound library definitely helped with the charm factor here. Was also surprised to see such a polish physics system for handling rounded shapes, momentum, and rotation effects. Did you have an existing engine for handling these interactions?

Swap being limited to the nearest entity is very intuitive for this demo but part of me wishes you could change targets anywhere and enable crazy chain reactions.  Adjustments to crank speed would go a long way towards reducing how repetitive the motion becomes since you're almost always using it.

Solid work all in all.

Thanks for playing! & sharing this feedback.

Almost (i think all) sounds I ended up doing a bit of mixing with my voice too make it feel fun/make sense in this world. So admittedly, the physics is a place I did get LLM support.  & all the physics functions are packaged in their own file that I'd be happy to share.

I really agree with you on wanting to be able to toggle across multiple entities / trigger chain reactions. & having variable crank speed across them. I am considering pushing this further and would definitely do something like that if i did.

Great job on this! I got stuck on one tricky donut (I'm sure you know the one :P) but I managed to get them all. This is a perfect use for the crank. The swapping mechanic is simple but you came up with a bunch of different ways to use it.
My only real criticism is that targeting a shape  is a bit finicky if you are close to 2 objects. My suggestion would be to let the player switch targets with a button, and to maybe show your targeting radius as a circle so it's easier to judge how close you need to be.

Developer

I really like that feedback and agree a ton on the finicky selection. If I work on this further I will implement something like that.

I’m so happy you found all the donuts.

Got all the jam games side loaded this mornin’ - excited to play your entry too.
