I did add this game to my wishlist even though I will never buy it on Steam. I would rather buy it on Itch 10 times (which I might do 😉). Steam seems to break everything in games for me. I just can't use it anymore. A DLC will render the rest of the older game saves unusable. This ONLY happens with Steam.

Appreciate it. Personally I haven't had issues like that with saves on Steam. I suppose it depends on how certain devs setup their save systems on Steam, because it's a little bit different than for regular Patreon or Itch version. Doesn't matter much if you just have a single game but if the game has DLC's it can be a problem if it's not setup correctly.
