Itch sent you a mail after the purchase. Doublecheck your mail account and your mail settings /user/settings/email-addresses

I do not understand what that means.
You make contradictory statements. Either you purchased it without an account or you purchased it while being logged into an account.
But this does not matter. If you did not receive an email after your purchase, something is wrong.
Either a typo in the mail adress or it is stuck in the mail queue or something like that. A mail can be on it's way for several days. That is unusual, but not all mails are delievered instantly. But the usual issue is, that the received mail got sortet into your spam folder. That depends on your mail client. You might have more than one layer of spam folders. One in your client, one on your internet service provider and so on.
The extreme case is, that the Itch server cannot send you mails at all. Since you have an account, I doubt that, since you received a verify your mail adress mail and verified your mail adress of the account.
If you have a transaction on Paypal with Itch being the receipient, use your Paypal mail adress on /docs/buying/already-bought to resend you the associated download keys.
Yes, I created the account, but the email address is different from the one I use for PayPal. I meant that I checked both inboxes just in case, but in neither case did I find any email from Ichi—aside from the registration and account/post verification emails.
Therefore, I really don't know what to do. I have already used the link you sent me multiple times for both email addresses, but nothing arrives. Also, my spam folder isn't divided into categories; there is only one.
The normal thing is, that you get an email from Paypal and an email from Itch, around the same timestamp.
One is Paypal informing you about the payment made and the other from Itch mailing you your download link. The mail title should read "Your purchase of 'The Choicer Voicer' and is sent from support@itch.io
Do a full text search of both your inboxes for the term "purchase" and triple check your mail settings on Itch. You can add your paypal address on /user/settings/email-addresses
Additional emails
You can link additional email addresses to your itch.io account in order to get access to anything purchased under those email addresses. For example, your PayPal email address might be different than your regular email address so you'd want to add it as an additional email.
I have the receipt on my bank account (which is linked to PayPal, and I used PayPal as the payment method), but not on PayPal itself. I have checked both email accounts, and as you suggested, I added my PayPal email as a secondary address and requested the links to be sent again, but I still haven't received anything.
But you do have the Paypal mail, confirming a payment to "support@itch.io"?
If yes, and the recovery methods on /support and /docs/buying/already-bought do not work, you will have to let support sort this out.
Paypal sends you a confirmation about any payment you make. If you got no confirmation, Paypal did not send the payment.
You need to check in your Paypal account what is going on.
16.8. was not a banking day. And while bank transfers are faster than they used to be, but they are not instant and there might be additional circumstances either for your account or for that particular payment, that might delay the transaction.
