“Active” is something you select first and then act upon. Here, there is no selecting first. How do I know which star you are going to click? It’s like asking the keyboard to highlight the key you’re going to press when typing.
Unless you are suggesting to separate selection and rotation — but that, I’m afraid, would be awkward and impact playability even more.
