[2d Art][Paid/Revenue Share] Looking for a 2D artist for my live 4x mobile game

Hello all!

I have been developing in the cave my own game for almost 5 years. It is in a genre of 4x strategy where you control your own character, build buildings, control troops and do variety of open world cool exploration and it is online only. The game is mobile only but available to play on PCs too.

I am myself a regular guy that works in IT industry for decades already. I have been always passionate from my childhood to create games and potentially make business out of it. I have went pretty much far with the current project I do and I want to find a partner in crime!

About the game:

The game is so far well polished and tested. I have 12k downloads in google play with 4.8 stars rating, my game works well on different regions, America, Europe and etc. It is highly scalable from technological perspective. The concept of the game is fine and unique, I have tested variety of mechanics with live players and their feedback. My biggest weakness is that I use only free assets. It is ugly, it is inconsistent, but anyways I got Day1 retention of 30% sometimes more/sometimes less. Players do enjoy the game because of its gameplay. For that reason I think I am somewhat ready to announce this offer that I am looking for 2d artist!

Currently my game is under assets of 2d 45 angle perspective. I want to change every single asset I have to be made by a single person. In its own unique & consistent style. I am open to discuss the perspective in the game, not making it the 45 angle perspective but top-down or different style. You actually name it. I want you to be fully responsible of the art in the game.

My budget:

The game has microtransactions. I do sell something, but so far I never aimed for pay-to-win content or spam players with the purchases. Cause it is just too early for the game to be profitable itself. However, I have budget for the partner to pay but in the long-term I expect simply to grant 50% profits of our game, call it our game and develop it as our game.

The name of the project is: onlyfortress.online

im interested! are you looking for illustrated or pixel art? Feel free to add me on discord: ashnaaaay

Hi i am an artist i can help you with your project

My contact: discord  felixity0590_88597 and i can show you my portfolio

Hey! I checked out Only Fortress and really love the depth of the 4X sandbox mechanics you've built over the last 5 years. I specialize in complete 2D game asset overhauls from modular fortress tilesets and environments to cohesive character monster sprites. I can help transform the visual style into a polished unified art direction that drastically boosts your player retention and store appeal. Are you leaning towards keeping a polished pixel/retro aesthetic or would you prefer transitioning to a modern hand drawn stylized look?

Hi! Your project sounds really interesting, especially the focus on building a consistent visual style across the entire game. I’d be interested in helping redesign the 2D assets, including the world map

Hi! I’m a stylized 2D game artist and illustrator, and I’m interested in helping give Only Fortress a more consistent visual identity.

What stood out to me is that you’re not just looking for replacement assets, but for one artist to help define the overall art direction. That kind of work interests me much more than simply matching a pre-existing asset pack.

My style focuses on bold silhouettes, expressive shapes, clear readability, and colorful compositions. I’d be comfortable working across characters, creatures, props, buildings, and other game assets, and I’m also open to discussing whether the current 45-degree perspective should stay or whether another visual approach would suit the game better.

Since this would be a large-scale overhaul, I’d prefer to start with a small paid batch first so we can see whether the style and workflow fit both of us before discussing a longer-term arrangement.

If my style looks like it could fit what you have in mind, I’d be happy to talk more about the direction and scope.

Hey there,

Huge congrats on reaching 12k downloads and solid Day 1 retention while solo-developing for 5 years. That shows the gameplay foundation is working, and replacing placeholder assets with a cohesive, stylized identity is going to elevate the project massively.

I specialize in isometric / 45-degree angle 2D art, pixel art, modular tilesets, buildings, and character sprites built specifically for gameplay clarity and mobile readability.

Here are my portfolio and visual exploration boards to review:

I have deep experience designing modular environments (buildings, terrain tiles, props) and unit sprites that align seamlessly to grid perspectives and remain legible on mobile screens.

I’d love to take full ownership of the art direction and discuss how we can transition the game's visuals from free assets to a unified signature style. I'm open to discussing the scope, milestones, and partnership terms.

Feel free to reply via DM here or add me on Discord: nadie1244.

Best,
