This was really really fun i like it a lot! Short and sweet, just perfect
You really killed it with the art! It's both nostalgic and yet vibrant and full of life! The fishing mechanic felt pretty satisfying too (and with a simple QTE or something it'd be even more amazing!). If this turned into a bigger game, I'd totally wanna play it!
The sprites are so expressive and weighty! For what it's worth, I don't think the game necessarily needs a reeling mechanic since the casting has a really satisfying momentum and animation to it. (Though maybe I'm projecting here, since I didn't implement one either). I had a good experience playing this; thanks for making it!
I think you should have made a dialogue-driven game because the game's description was great and definitely knew its audience haha.
I did think that the power bar on the right hand side corresponded to the distance in the pond the line would go but this was not always the case. I think it was perhaps coincidence that the power bar and the pond were the same height (in 2D terms).

You hooked my greatest flaw! Your intuitions found my failed intentions. The power bar WAS supposed to link up directly to the y-axis for casting but I never went and fixed it for sake of being able to use the x-axis. Thanks for not mentioning I have literally no reel-in mechanic; that will haunt me forever. Thanks for thinking I could pull off a dialogue game!
Aha, developer intuition haha. I don't think the game needed a reel mechanic to be fair, what's there works as a whole.
And honestly, I think having to choose between X-axis and Y-axis, you made the right call. :)
Figuring out if I found a mean fish or a nice fish is hilarious. Love the different compliments I can get. Simple controls that feel smooth. Peak game.
