Hello!

I'd like an option to disable notifications for people joining the jams I run. Every time I run GBJam I get an email once a day telling me x people have joined the jam. There are no options for these in the notification settings.

The same is true of the bell icon - I get notifications in the bell icon for people joining the jam and as soon as I've cleared it I have new notifications for people joining the jam.

I would still like to know about community posts and submissions to the jam.

So in summary:
1) an option to disable website alerts on people joining my jam
2) an option to disable being told about people joining my jam via email

Couldn't agree more with this.

Before moderating a jam, itch notifications were the most exciting thing for me to see on the website. It usually means someone has commented on one of my games, and that's information I want immediately - every time.

But since being a mod, notifications have swapped from being the most important, most interesting thing for me to see when I open the website; to the most boring, most disappointing things for me to see. 

I don't care if 3 new people have joined a jam with 4,000 participants. It's not information I need. 

I appreciate the way it could help someone hosting their new jam for the first time. Watching the first 20 participants roll in would be as good as recieving a comment. But there comes a point where it's too much - and needs to be turned off.

Please, please, please act on Polyduck's request for this setting.

why is this even a notification? no one needs a notification for this. also i sent in a report about this over a month ago. haven’t heard anything back from itch.io support.

Yeah we need this badly. The email notification customization is rather awkward on Itch. I don't want to have to turn off all my worthwhile email notifications just to get around spam.

Please. This report was made in GBJAM 12. I'm still getting emails, and now I'm running two jams.

Wanted to necro this thread because 2 years later and it's still an issue. I mean, it's not even remotely useful information: it's just noise. Look at this. LOOK AT IT. I know someone joined because I can see the numbers going up on the main page. This is completely unnecessary. I don't like complaining, but damn. 

Yes, please this would be much better if it was even just a daily round-up of a single notification of x people joined your gamejam. It clogs the notification system and makes me feel like I want to not interact with the system at all, then it turns out one of 90 notifications was a forum post that needs looked at.
