Hello!
We are LibertFamily Studio, a small family QA team. Today, two testers aged 55 and 22 tested the browser version of Marketfield on separate computers. My own session lasted 1 hour and 2 minutes, while the second tester is still playing because he enjoys management and optimization games and wants to finish the demo!
Overall, we found the game very engaging and easy to understand. The quests clearly show what needs to be done and progressively introduce new systems, including farm automation. I personally did not notice the time passing.
The retro visual style reminds me of games from the late 1980s. I really like it, and I think it can appeal both to nostalgic players and younger audiences. The availability of several languages is also a strong advantage because it opens the game to a wider international audience.
During normal gameplay, we did not encounter any gameplay bugs. However, we found several issues related to menus and display in the browser version:
- Clicking the Steam wishlist or Discord link takes the player out of fullscreen. When returning to the game, fullscreen still appears enabled in the settings even though the game is no longer displayed in fullscreen.
- Pressing Escape causes the same problem: fullscreen is visually disabled, but the fullscreen option remains checked.
- To restore fullscreen, the player must uncheck and recheck the option. Doing this can produce a black rectangle or black screen in the middle of the display.
- The game needs fullscreen because, outside fullscreen mode, the lower part of the interface is not fully visible.
- The screen-resolution option is present in the settings, but the resolution list is empty.
- “Quit” freezes the image instead of closing or returning properly.
- “Save and Quit” successfully saves the game, but the image then freezes instead of closing or returning properly.
Apart from these menu and display issues, the game ran well during the session and was genuinely enjoyable.
We would be very interested in hearing your thoughts about this feedback. With your explicit permission, we would also love to publish a bilingual French/English QA portfolio article on the LibertFamily Studio website, crediting you and linking directly to the official Marketfield page. We would only include your response if you agree.
Thank you for creating such an engaging game!
