I think I just kept breaking the game to find the secrets that's why it took so long, that and once I was aware of the secrets I had already been there quite a while ;p great game either way.
can confirm that the secret they're referring to feels like trying to break down a brick wall using a plastic spork which I'm still attempting after an hour, though apart from that the rest of the game is as amazing as I could've hoped, if not more
