Very well written!
so sickk love a text based adventure awesome job!!
I havn't played a game like this for a long time but it made me happily nostalgic. I do think the colors make it a bit difficult to read though. But i had fun ! I sold a 2-layers cake. Not sure if there is something else to do after that ?
I was not able to figure it out but i guess it has to do something with the recipe you get.
Interesting concept, i like that you allowed players to choose a name.
ooooh love the idea of a text-based adventure game, imo would've been super cool to lean even further into it with a text parser and a more text-only terminal aesthetic and completely unfair actions leading to your untimely demise LOL
Thanks for engaging with the metaphor.
My other games are much as you describe.
Rarely with a brutally picky parser, but not often, because modern players hate that.
It's been ages since I played a game like this. It's about as tedious as I remember it, but has a certain charme
Gotta admit though, after the first cake layer I couldn't keep looking at that colour anymore. It's just a bit too much
Thanks for engaging with the metaphor.
And yeah, by the time you’ve made a layer, yer pretty much endgame.
I had to lose the first two days of this jam.
I had a LOT more tedium planned, but ultimately had to cut.
Potholders/Teatowels, Preheating the oven, washing out the measuring cup/spoon, having to manage another commodity of washing up liquid.
There are a LOT of steps to making a cake, and a lot of steps to cleaning up afterwards. I just captured the bare essence.
Yeah, I kind of expected some "you burned your hands" when I just pulled out the pan.
Though you've reminded me that I've been wanting to make a cake... I'll get to that soon.
If I have inspired a person to make a cake with my game, then as far as I’m concerned… I won this jam.
