I sure hope it’s not AI, otherwise I’d like my 70+ hours back from creating all of it 😅
I can see how the art style I chose for this and the fact that I did not use pixel perfect camera, which makes the pixels all wonky and blended.
But I can assure you that the artwork was created by me. As an example, here’s the process I used to create the rubber duck from the shop UI using gimp as my choice of pixel art tool.
- Step 1: Start with a basic shape
- Step 2: Add the base colors
- Step 3: Shading
This is usually where I leave things for the duration of early development. After that, my process becomes much more experimental and involves a lot of trial and error.
- Step 4: try different realistic textures
- Step 5: Experiment with filters such as sharpening and pixelization
- Step 6: Adjust colors and light levels
- Step 7: Manually polish and fix the end result from all the filters.
Also it’s a good trick is to use symmetry to duplicate parts of the pixelart rather than drawing the same thing twice.
