okay so that was lowkey a masterpiece????  when i first started playing it i thought it was an excellent example of what i call 'wouldn't it be fucked up if ...' horror, horror where you take a very simple idea and follow it to the worst and most absurd conclusion ... junji ito is very good at this type of horror.  it's horror that brings a strange sort of a relief to an anxious person, who spends a lot of time ruminating over worst-case scenarios, and seeing it reflected and magnified in media makes it easier to cope with what most often feels like an elusive sense of dread. but then as i kept collecting endings, each one more absurd and horrifying than the last, circling around these ideas of responsibility and abandonment, guilt and alienation, companionship and loneliness, and came closer to understanding the protagonist ... i realized how much this game was really meant for people like me.  thank you for making it, and for giving it a weirdly hopeful ending, despite everything that led up to it.
