Looks like a fun idea, and I love the intro instructions. Didn’t get past the ‘Get down there!’ though (on iPadOS browser) :(

Developer

Hello, yes! I noticed there was a problem with some devices where the engine I used struggles to somehow trigger the event that takes you into gameplay, therefore I added a skip button in the main menu that does just that! I encourage you to try it if you have the time! The game is not designed for portable devices so there might be some things that don't quite work as intented, at least that's what I noticed on my phone (the ray that picks and triggers blocks when attacking doesn't finish moving to the other side of the screen, but the game can be played, it's just more difficult that way) but depending on the architecture of the device it might work properly. Everything should be playable with touch/mouse, so I hope you try it and let me know if there's any problems inside the gameplay!

Oh, tried skip and it worked! I absolutely loved the gameplay mechanic. Trying to stack up damage and keeping everything in balance; of course I managed to knock everything off when I got too ambitious. I love it. Great entry!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you liked it! I haven't quite had the time to check your game but I'll do so as soon as possible, I'm trying to whip something up for the Brackeys Game Jam so I'm a little busy at the moment lol

The game is fun, but a bit tough. However, the mechanics of the game is very cool.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback! I'm kind of a fan of tricky strategy boss fights so it felt good to me, but I understand how it can be different for someone just playing the game for the first time, I will definitely make an improved version with a better, more understandable difficulty curve one of these days!

A very different take on the theme I enjoyed it XD got too greedy when i first played it good job :D

An interesting and creative game with fun art, though the music gets a bit annoying after playing for more than 5 minutes.

Developer

I get that, I could say the same with your game but I skipped that since I don't think having a perfect soundtrack for a game jam is that realistic. Lol

But yeah, I think It's more the type of song, I thought it captured the vibe I wanted for the game well enough but there's not much variation so it does get annoying.

Congrats on the game! The concept is really neat balancing items was already fun on its own, so turning it into a Slay the Spire esque turn-based loop was a cool surprise. The robots are super cute, and being able to put dragged items back is a great touch. Just a small audio feedback: the click sound when the intro dialogue starts sounds a bit like a gunshot; blending in a few subtle ambient sounds could fix that feel. Great work!

Developer(+1)

It's the same sound used when the character's range reaches 60 and he releases all the energy, but I understand that out of context it can sound like that! Probably some more robotic sounds could've helped as you said! Glad you enjoyed the game and I will give yours a try as soon as I can!

this is definitely by far the best game in the jam. 10/10. Though I feel like many objects aren't probably balanced based on COM like the right angle triangle and the rectangle. So they were intuitively hard to balance. But rest is awesome.

Developer

Thank you, really glad you enjoyed it!!! Sorry for the late reply btw. Yeah, I had no time to think about COM at all lol, I will denitely set that up in a future update!

before I critique a little, I should say that this is probably my favorite game in this jam. so many jam games add too many little mechanics or moves that take away from the jam's themes, instead making them complicated and hard to understand. here the whole game is built around a single idea, that being balancing your board; which in turn leads to a lot of different ideas giving the game more depth while still being played with a single mouse.

while the basic gameplay is very fun and intuitive, only having one single enemy with a huge health bar leads to the game becoming stale after a bit and makes death more frustrating since you have to do a whole long basic enemy fight again. think of needing to jump on a goomba 50 times to take it down. I understand this is made in only 4 days, but more enemy variety with them having less hp would have made the game so much more fun. Also the visuals can take little time to get used to, but they are fine for a game jam.

Developer

No worries, I totally get where you're coming from and I totally wish I could've at least added a few more enemies and a boss, letting you have more checkpoints and get acclimated to the mechanics before a final boss fight. In fact I made graphics for some other mechanics and had sketches for enemies but since I had to work 3 of the jam days I just didn't have enough time to program those things into the game, had I been free 1 or 2 more days I definitely would've implemented more things! Right now I'm building something simple for the Brackeys Game Jam and trying to play as much games from this jam as possible, but in the coming days I'll definitely make an updated version of the game with more polish and features! The reception's been pretty good but I don't want to get too hyped up and say I'll make it into a full game, so I'm just going to make something more like a demo and see where it goes from there! Thank you for your feedback and I'm really glad you enjoyed the game! I will check your submission as soon as I'm able to, probably later today!

The game is fun, but a bit tough! I got stuck on the opening dialogue at first, though that's probably just an issue on my end. Good game!

Developer

Yes! I noticed there was a problem on some devices where the button after the dialogue wouldn't trigger, I was allowed by the admin to add the skip button in the start menu to get straight into gameplay as the game was working as intended for most players, still have no idea why it happens. Curious, did the button appear for you after the dialogue at the end or did you have to use the skip button?

Submitted

I hit the skip button and had to refresh the page.

Developer

Oh okay, thank you, I will try to look further into that for a potential future update!

Great idea but very hard. I think it would be great if you can place the parts and then on ready you have to see if they balance. But very creative idea, loved it.

Developer(+1)

That was a planned featured originally, but as I was thinking about it I realize it would've been kind of lame, as you could spend minutes arranging the blocks just to see it all fall and then basically waste your turn. By doing it in real time you can get a feel of the weight of the blocks and try to fix the balance if it's tipping over. It can take some time to get the hand of things, but it's mostly about having patience, hoarding blocks and making good combos. Sadly I didn't have people that could playtest but out of the 10 or so times I played the final version myself I beat it like 8 times. But again that's what feedback is for, now if I decide to expand the game I can take your comments into consideration! I highly appreciate the fact you took the time to check my game out and I will do the same with yours as soon as I'm able to! Thanks!

I see that makes sense, good point. I do hope to see more from this project as its a great idea. All the best.

I personally think the game is a bit hard.

Developer(+1)

Completely understandable! Lol, I'll check your game when I can!
