I don't know a SINGLE thing about programming or game engines or any of that since I'm uh kind of lazy, but since the Gameboy is really really simple I thought I might give this one a shot. but um I don't know what game engine to use and I'm a bit nervous. I'm thinking of using GB Studio or something but there are probably better game engines for this.

Fortunately there's still a bit of time before the jam starts to learn. GB Studio is fairly intuitive to use. Godot is one of the more popular engines, especially for game jams. There's also a lot of tutorials for it around. The tricky thing with GB Studio is getting your music in there, whereas Godot accepts any of the mainstream audio formats.

I suggest gamemaker cuz you can use drag and drop instead of code.
