Hi everyone! I just published my game, "The Black-Mouthed Fortune Teller", on itch.io!

Genre: Fortune Telling / Card Simulation

You can play the game here:   https://king25gpro.itch.io/the-black-mouthed-fortune-teller

About the game:

In this game, you encounter a fortune teller with a unique ability to read cards. You can ask her questions that have a clear "yes" or "no" answer (for example: "Will I get a new car?"). Using her magical abilities and years of experience, she performs a 3-stage card spread to reveal your answer.

I need an honest answer about my game. I would like to know about the mechanics themselves. Will it be interesting to play? What can be added to this game? If there are any bugs that can be fixed, and what content can be added instead? You can write a comment with all of the above and send a link to your game.

Thanks for checking it out!

It seems to me or the grannies need to add black humor

Why is there a skeleton lying on the shelf? Can you explain?

Hi! I tried your game and thought the fortune-telling concept was really fun. I did notice that it takes around 2 minutes to receive a response. I was wondering if that was intentional?

I like the card-dealing animation, but for me the wait felt a little long. Maybe the animation could be shortened slightly, sped up after a while, or allow the player to skip it once they've seen it a few times.

I'm  a beginner game developer and recently released my first game, Project Outbreak, on itch.io. It is still in its early stages, but i just released the first protoype. If you have a chance to try it, I'd really appreciate any feedback. Thanks, and good luck with your project!

I played the game and I can say that the idea itself is not bad, but there are some small nuances that would be better fixed.

The first thing I noticed is that your menu screen itself is tied to the upper left edge. You need to make it so that the background itself stretches with the window resolution. That is, when the game starts, the window is normal; as soon as you enlarge it to full screen, the window becomes huge.It is necessary to make the stretching dependent on the screen resolution

The controls for this game are non-standard and a little unintuitive. The A and D keys themselves work as they should, but you can't move up and down. The only thing that works is the small arrows, which isn't always convenient. It's better to make a binding, but WASD.  Shooting is the most non-obvious aspect. Shooting is done with the spacebar; it's better to make it so that shooting is done with the left mouse button.

If this is your first game, then congratulations, it's a good start for a newbie.

What I can wish for you is to develop and study further. And you will succeed. The main thing is not to stop and not to give up.

Thank you so much. I will start improving on the things you said right away

Hi, I tried your game but got stuck, the granny just kept playing cards over and over, and I couldn’t figure out how to progress. I really like the sorcery mechanic though, and I’d love to try it again once it’s fixed.

General thoughts

Playtime: about 10 minutes

I think the core concept is interesting, but the current browser experience created too much friction for me to really settle into it.

What worked well

  • The fortune-teller concept is simple and has a clear atmosphere.
  • I can see the appeal if the goal is more of an experimental interactive experience than a traditional game.
  • The 3D presentation gives it more personality than a basic card-reading interface.

What I would change

  • I know you disclosed that the browser version has issues and needs to be played in fullscreen, but I would still prioritize fixing that as soon as possible. I had to refresh multiple times, and that level of friction made it hard for me to even want to continue playing.
  • I would think more about the core game loop. Right now it reminds me a little of some early VR experiences that were more about being inside an interesting scene than actually playing a game. If that is the direction you want, I think you are on the right path. If you want it to feel more like a game, even an experimental one, I would explore giving the player more meaningful interaction or progression.

Overall, I think there is an interesting idea here, but I would focus first on making the browser experience reliable and then deciding how much you want this to be an interactive experience versus a more traditional game.

Please consider giving my game a try, it’s browser based with a tight 2-3 minute game loop: https://barelyplayable.itch.io/blade-baes-brawl
