Originally Amelia was going to be much more unsure/unbelieving of her situation, but due to script changes I ended up cutting this because I couldn't find a way to make it fit. I don't think that it would make sense for her character to be in outright denial anyway - it was going to be more like her being scared that someone else will see Mairi as something other than a mermaid and break the sort of illusion around her.
