How does the game fit the theme?
Basically, we are amateurs at gamedev and have to rush the development of our game for this game jam in 3 days, as we have been conceptualizing for 4 days and none of those ideas stuck, except for one, which was a platformer, which we decided not to choose at first, but since we were running out of time, we decided to choose it. So we had ideas for mechanics, such as the dimension shift ability and platforms, which would reveal hidden platforms and hazards, but we didn't have the time to implement it, so it didn't make it into the game. Also, we were originally supposed to have approximately 5 levels, so 2 forest levels and 3 cave levels, but due to time constraints, we only did 3, which were 2 forest levels and 1 cave level.
So how does this game fit the theme of "Don't Trust No One"? Well, it's because you are on a quest to slay the evil dragon, but you don't have the strength to defeat it. You went to the wizard. The wizard's name is JUAN (Juantus The Unyielding Archmage of Nowhere), and he told you to find the legendary sword that is hidden in the crystal cave, which resides at the end of the forest, so that you are able to slay the evil dragon. So, you listened and followed the task given by the wizard, and ventured into the forest. Along your way to the crystal cave, you avoided hazards and obstacles. As soon as you reached the crystal cave and entered it, there was an illusion of JUAN (like the Badeline mechanic from Celeste) that was trying to chase you and end you, so you had to escape the crystal cave, and that's it. For story purposes only, it was revealed that there was no sword at all, and it was a trick that JUAN set up because he was the evil dragon after all
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All assets were created from scratch by our team for this game jam, except for the sound effects, which were obtained from jsfxr and 8Bit SFX and Music Pack. Specifically, the jump, select, death, and explosion sound effects were from jsfxr, and the dash sound effect was taken from the 8Bit SFX and Music Pack by HUNTER AUDIO PRODUCTION.
How many people worked on the game?6
