Yeah it will take about 15 Bands to break through, give or take Wilderness Relics and Imprints (cause those extend life a tiny bit for each one) The more Imprints or better Qi gain relics you have the easier it gets.
But, when you think you can do the breakthrough run, pay attention to the game because if you are not you can die before you Core up.
