How does your art incorporate the theme?
I chose to craft a story about a hero leaving for a dangerous quest, but there's a sense of longing as the hero looks back towards their kingdom in the distance.

fun perspective and composition
Composition, framing and use of colors here is masterfull. Love it!
The viewing angle and perspective are very well designed.
The scenery looks awesome, I love your color choices and the difference between the foreground and the background. Something with the hero makes it a little less clear what I'm looking at, my eye is drawn to the rock next to him and it makes it seem like it's part of him.
The rock next to them? You mean the orange/red thing on their shoulder? That’s supposed to be their cape or cloak.
The intention was for the cape to be tied to the orange in the bridge and the orange/yellows in the city to make a visual connection between them. But if that’s not what you’re seeing, that’s good for me to know so thank you.
This is REALLY well done! I love the sky and the curvature of the clouds. Nice work!

The use of colour, especially dithering, as others mentioned, is great! I need to learn your techniques! I love the city nestled in the valley behind the building (castle?) on the hill!
The mountains, sky, and that bridge look great!
We picked the same colors for mountains haha
We did haha… but I actually like your mountains a little more hahaha
You’re too kind! I had a good reference. That helped a lot with shape :)
This is one of the best submissions I've seen in this Jam, The landscape feels vast and beautifully detailed, The colors are amazing and the only place it falls off just a little for me is the theming as this doesn't immediately scream fantasy to me if that makes sense. The skill and execution is great, just needs a bit more spice :P
Really nice piece! I really like the composition here, it looks really good! The colors you choice for it, also look really great and fit the piece really well!
My only critique though would be, that I feel that in a lot of places there is a lot of unnecessary noise. (A lot of dither and a lot of single pixels scattered throughout. Sometimes that works well for the piece (like in the sky) but other times, it makes places feel really noise and clutter (like in the bottom rocks). So my critique would be to try to reduce a lot of the single pixels and try being a lot more specific about the dither placement. (try not to have overlapping dithers or dither cluster)
Other than that I think it is really good piece! I can see you put a lot of effort into it! Well done!
The dithering texture on the landscape is really amazing. The colors are pretty video gamey in that they clearly designate different parts of the image, e.g. how the orange visually reconnects the hero back to their kingdom. Well done.
I would have used less explicit outlines in some places, for example to delineate the black/blue rocks in the foreground they are not needed. But that’s a fairly subjective stylistic choice.
