Jump height is WAY too low, I can't even reach the ladders. Is this truly a bug or something else I'm not realizing?
Yes, it's on purpose and is part of teaching the base mechanics. I've made updates to the tutorial to hopefully help alleviate confusion, but haven't posted them yet. If you go through the tutorial as normal it will make sense.
