How does the game fit the theme?
In RELAY you drive a rover across a crater at night using only sensor readings (odometer, compass, radar) to find a relay station. One or more of those sensors is lying to you every run, frozen, delayed, drifting, or otherwise wrong, and it never tells you which. You have to cross reference readings against each other and the crater rim to catch the lie before it sends you the wrong way. The core loop is literally about not being able to trust your own instruments.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Code:
7 segment display shader, CRT shader
Assets:
Various models, textures, and audio. All attribution was provided in the CREDITS section of the game when needed.

Wow I love the atmosphere of this game, it mixed beautifully this feeling of being both calm and tense. And it felt so satisfying to see the end game screen when I finally won, seeing the map of my travels and how the instruments were taking me off course. Blowing my mind what you did as a solo dev in a week, great game! 👏
Very well made, bit confusing at first but still a very cool concept.
After some initial confusion about what things could be malfunctioning I did enjoy myself and completed all difficulties. I do think the only interesting error / malfunctions were with the plotter though, I completely disregarded the compass because it didn’t add any extra information and i didn’t understand the numbers between the cardinal directions. And the odometer wasn’t really adding any useful info given how the levels were designed.
But having the plotter have some different errors made for some very interesting gameplay imo. I think personally, it would have been more intrigued if the mechanics was about pushing the limit / risking things to get loot/stuff and having time be a big component in battery drain too so I have to do quick actions with my drone trying to get it to things i need and then safely return home.
More feedback in the play-through:
What an excellent game! The mechanics took some getting used to, but then it got fun. It is a bit overtuned on the hard side, but that is to be expected from an ambitious game like this in a 1 week game jam. Very well made! And I also like the exploration recap at the end!
The idea is good. It follows the theme perfectly.
For a game jam, the game feels very well made.
Personally, it doesn't speak to me; getting to the relay and figuring out which instrument is wrong doesn't bring any fun or satisfaction. I could see the concept shine more if it were to become a multiplayer game with people having different instruments/visuals in front of them and trying to figure out, through chat alone, what is correct or not.
this game is challenging but so rewarding. fits the theme super well while providing a brand new type of game experience. it takes elements like map awareness and positioning to the next level. so impressed that one person made this!
Thank you so much for playing! Very kind
cool idea very intersting game
Thanks for playing!
