I read in the description that is your first game, well done !!

Could really find some pacman vibe in it.

I did all the game and only after read the descriptiona nd discovered I could use space to cast spell. I was wondering what was this blue circle all along.

You wanted some critical feedback, so there it is:

- the concept of hidden character and escaping didn't match well, there was no incentive to try to understand who is a wrong wharacter, no hint either. It seemed like two different gameplay not merging, I recommand you tof ocus on one unique idea and build for this idea

- the art was nice, but hard to define what was walkable or not: I suggest you to not use the same saturation for example for walkable and not walkable, or a common language. And to be more permissive with blockers box. You want the player to feel good, so for things wrong for th eplayer you prefer to have smaller collide box and for things good for the player have bigger collide box (than their model)

- the life of the player need to be more highlighted, it's the main info which but stress into the player and make them plan their path/take risk or not. Here it was at same level as collected object (which is already showed by the gold things), and demons (which as my first points we didn't care a lot about)

- the pacman feeling worked really well, the AI of the opponent was intelligent and random enough to feel that we can trick them and also feel near to die often (I played without the spell)

-I have the feeling the spell would have remove me all the fun I had to be honest, because it would have been a little too easy

-----

I hope I am not too harsh for you, it always easier to focus on bad points, so sorry if I told mostly those.

Hope you will continue to make games !!

Nice job finishing you first jam project! The game felt a bit easy and hard at the same time. The banishing ring felt a bit tight and it was easy to get hit while trying to use it. At the same time the demons path finding and players amount of health led to me completing the game on first try anyway. More maps would  also do a lot to spice it up. I still enjoyed my time!

Seems inspired from PacMan. Few things I'd like to see. Little speed boost for the MC. More clearer/demarcated obstacles (the ones in the court didn't stand out as obstacles).

Developer

I really appreciate the feedback, it's super helpful! I totally agree with the tennis court obstacles and you're not the first to mention a speed boost! Thanks again for the specifics, it really is helpful :)

Nice little game! It was fun to play. You could consider adding some hazards to make it a bit more challenging. Congrats on your first game!

Developer

Really appreciate you taking the time to play and leaving some helpful feedback. I hadn't considered hazards but I think that's a really great idea :)

I just had to try it and see for myself and I gotta admit that I had lots of fun playing this. Reminded me of when I used to play pacman. Really awesome first game!!

Developer

I really appreciate you taking the time to play!

Yeah that was like pac-man. The movement AI was pretty smart! I couldn't out-juke them.  Pretty fun overall

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to play! Definitely a lot borrowed from pac-man :)

Lots of things to address here since it was your first game developed, so congrats on that! I loved the pacman vibes but you can add some power-ups or maybe add new stuff. Text was too large, gameplay needs to be polished, level design was okayish. I am still giving 5 stars for delivering and completing this project. All the best for future.

I really appreciate you taking the time to play and to leave some constructive feedback, it's so helpful!!

funny to see "lore dump" used in a video game now. I feel old. cool iteration on packman or like hide and seek really. could use more mechanics maybe the people have a progress bar on like something that they tinker on and you have toy figure it all out before its too late.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for taking the time to play and give some feedback, I really appreciate it! I'm glad the lore dump read as funny :) I like the idea of people tinkering on something with a progress bar and the player has to stop them, maybe they're leaving traps or causing some other kind of chaos.
