Great little game! I like how tense it felt seeing if someone was going to try to grab me or not. The ending made me a bit sad with a few questions on what was actually happening. Good job!

Thanks for playing! The ending is meant to be a bit cryptic. If you wanted to know what I was going for, I'll try to explain it below:

SPOILERS

The kiddo mentions his mom in the beginning and sometimes when talking to strangers. Rare gameover flavor text also mentions her as well. I tried to manipulate the wording in ways that hints towards the ending. "My mom was supposed to pick me up" is at first glance the kid saying his mom forgot him at school. But in reality, he's in denial that his mom is gone in general, and is still saying she should've been here to pick him up. The kid lives behind the local theater, inside of a dumpster. It also explains why he's so readily willing to dive into garbage cans to hide from strangers. As for the quote at the ending, it's tied to his anxiety. As it turns out, being all alone in such a dangerous city, living as a homeless child takes a toll on ones mind. The quote tries to symbolize words one might tell themselves in such a situation.

I got the impression that was the case with the framed photo. You did a good job indirectly telling what was going on. I don't think i would have picked up on the trashcan bit, but that makes sense.
