Essentially the beginning of a "Frankenstein through the eyes of the monster" thing (and more effective and enjoyable than the actual game of the same title featuring the late and great Tim Curry). Has atmosphere in spades, due to the graphics, the setting and old english. I can't vouch for the accuracy of this latter, but accurate or not it succeeds, together with the oddly stilted writing, in achieving a classic gothic horror feel. In a longer game this writing would get on my nerves... but this is not a longer game. But I confess it was starting to get on my nerves already. But the important thing is that it works for the game's length.
The inventory behaved a bit oddly. By allowing me to pick up multiple copies of certain items, when I combined them together I seemed to still have them in the inventory. Of course, what I was seeing was the duplicates. Looks a bit odd; disallowing picking up multiples of those items would have been it look neater. Then again, this is not a neat story.
A one-room game that is surprisingly effective.
