I am quite happy for you getting 3.0.17 straightened out. I'll try this new version soon and see if the game runs ok on my machine. version 17 certainly didn't, no matter the graphics settings.
The best part about your development so far is redoing the rig of the model. Anything to make working on a project less painful is a boon.
