Is it js me or people are not actually playing the games..

I js wanted to spread awareness but like im getting comments like “great game” and I look at the leaderboard and nothing has updated, indicating that they didn’t actually play the game. Now we can assume that they didn’t submit to the leaderboard, but I highly doubt it because it’s incredibly easy to submit to it and it requires no login (it’s legit one button). So consequently I feel like people are js spamming 5 worded feedback comments so  that they get more attention… what are your thoughts then? That’s kind of why it’s demotivating to do game jams if it’s rated incorrectly.

I have the same feeling about some comments. Personally think that might be very compressed way to say "Hello I am here, I rated your game, It would be great if you could see and rate mine game too" despite not even playing it. I sometimes catch myself making a somewhat forced comment, hoping for "returning the favor". But speaking for myself I always comment games that I finished or just simply had fun  - thats the main goal of the games after all.

I guess some people just don't like sharing their scores or don't feel competitive in general. And even if they didn't finish a game, they might still wanna leave a little praise if they enjoyed something about it.

I understand this point of view but it’s basically impossible for my game at least to play the game and not finish it. It’s not a long game and takes less than 5s to lose (worse case scenario). (Practically impossible). If u played my game u would realize that it’s not a story game or long at all. And it’s not only about competitiveness, it’s just a feature there that was implemented so it’s more fun either way.  It’s quite clear that people fake playing or play the game for less than 10s and already think it’s enough. And If their praise is “addictive” for my game, surely I would expect the leaderboard to update, but it doesn’t and hasn’t so it’s clear they really js copied it from another comment. It’s quite common in game jams and it’s not great ☹️

Well that was another one of my initial assumptions. If it's super fast to lose, that makes me think people might just not want to let others know how much they sucked at it, sometimes we just want to keep our shame private XD I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you, sometimes you just cannot make players do what's intended by design.

Luminous Seal, I’ll play your game and give you some in-depth feedback if you’d like! I love writing and giving lengthy feedback.

I’ve noticed that on my end too. I find it really sad when you’re genuinely waiting for people to tell you what they liked or didn’t like about your game. Feedback is important, and while simply saying “great game” is always nice, it doesn’t really give us much to work with or help us figure out what we could improve.

Your game seems really cool, so I’ll definitely check it out! And feel free to check out mine too. It’s a murder mystery point-and-click adventure ;) : /jam/brackeys-16/rate/4953032

You can also see some of the feedback I’ve already written for others here (I’m in the middle of doing more hehe): /jam/brackeys-16/topic/6879537/in-depth-feedback-x-in-depth-feedback#post-17246986

Yep - we have an open thread rating others and asking for ratings and not even close to everyone is writing a comment vs rating. We're actually playing each game at least 2 minutes before rating, to be able to give some actual feedback, but that's also why we're only able to rate a few games per day. It just takes time. People seem to just spam everywhere hoping others rate them without actually taking time to look at the game, just copying stuff others said before (or not even that)

Completely agree with you!!! I played 4 games today, and I am already exhausted after giving each in depth feedback...That's quite sad honestly people don't take time to really review games and do it out of interest. When i want to review a game, i honestly take the time to do it with all my heart or not at all...
