Played the game for about an hour, and haven't beaten the full power dream catcher just yet. The game is visually stunning, the game feel (juice) is on point, and overall I think it's a really well-made game.

However, I felt like the game was a bit unfair at times. I think the spawn rate of enemies in the mirage minigame is too high. Maybe I'm not getting the right Memories, but I just can't see how it's possible to get the firepower to beat back that many enemies. I also think making them obscure the area where they die is overkill. It's hard enough to fight the horde when you can see them; obscuring them feels like salt on the wound.

Likewise I think the castle minigame can be unfair. In rooms where you need to light lanterns, crows can heavily obscure the lanterns once they start coming in. Similarly they can obscure your exit door in rooms where they swarm at the top or bottom of the screen. I understand this might be part of the intended difficulty, but I'd like more leeway considering how tough the game is (for me) already.

The bottom line is that I want to feel like it's my fault for not being able to complete these challenges. If I could still see the lanterns while the crows were closing in, I'd blame myself for not hitting them in time. If the spawn rate of the mirage enemies was more reasonable, I'd blame myself for not being able to handle them. When I don't feel like the challenge is reasonable/fair, I get frustrated with the game instead of myself.

All that said, I think I could still sink a bit more time into this game. Despite the difficulty I had fun. This is the first minigame roguelike I've ever played, and the game as a whole feels like it was built with love and care. Maybe I need to explore more Memories and builds to optimize my character for the tough minigames. I've only played for an hour so there's a lot left to discover. The game just gets a bit too hard too fast for me to get really invested in it.
